Saints to interview Bills OC Joe Brady [on January 17th] (2 Viewers)

I don't even know if I want Johnson anymore. His demands and reports of his attitude are screaming insane amounts of arrogance. I suspect he may end up being extremely difficult to work and play for, and may end up tanking in a big way.
Not saying they’re the same but Payton has all of that and more and while he was the coach we loved it. CSP had a lot of growing to do and we saw him go through it.

This just feels like a repeat of last year when everybody was so hyped for Klint Kubiak. Then he gets here and we realize he can't do anything with a sorry offensive line and no QB. SF was able to lean on the run first and then kill you with the pass, same as Buffalo. We do not have those pieces in place here to allow us to do that. So what will be different if Joe Brady is hired?
It’s pretty sad that the OL is a weakness when there’s so much top tier draft capital there.

He might not have a choice. We know Loomis is making a demand on the next HC to keep certain coaches. A lot of the guys he's interviewing specialize in QB development. Theres reason to suspect that Loomis may also put the stipulation on the next HC to put some focus on developing Rattler
Oh, so Loomis is now Mickey Jones? Lord help us.

No we don’t know that. Stop spreading lies as truth.

I have no idea what conditions, if any, Loomis might impose on a new coach. But I can believe that in a discussion of the state of the franchise and what needs to be done, a general manager would tell head-coach candidates that there are two or so assistant coaches the organization thinks highly of and would like to keep in some capacity. If that is what the organization thinks and does, I have no problem.

We were speculating that we thought Loomis may be doing that, however; Underhill has refuted that and stated that all coaches have been given permission to seek new employment. There will be no stipulations for the new coach to retain previous staff members.

its really not such a weakness. We have two up-and-coming quality tackles proving their worth keeping. One of the best centers in the NFL. An average right guard and a below average left guard. Just because we could use an upgrade, specifically at left guard doesn't make the unit a weakness. What we need is a coach that puts an emphasis on better execution and game planning.

In 2020 he produced a Carolina offense with four different players reaching over 1k yards from scrimmage with Teddy Bridgewater running the show. And the only player of that group doing anything meaningful in the league today is DJ Moore. The other three skill players? Robby Anderson, Curtis Samuel, and Mike Davis.

I think that qualifies for doing a lot with little talent. I’m also not an LSU fan, so it’s not a Homer opinion lol.
Do not dare hit him with facts, lol.

Over the past 10 drafts the Saints have used 8 picks on O linemen in the top 4 rounds including these 5 first round picks:

'15 - LT - Andrus Peat #13
'16 - RT - Ryan Ramczyk #32
'20 - C - Caesar Ruiz #24
'22 - LT - Trevor Penning #19
'24 - LT - Taliese Fuaga #14

It's frustrating because O line is considered such a safe investment yet as you can see, the results can be mixed. You draft a promising LT prospect and he turns out to be a perplexing Pro Bowl Guard. You draft one of the best RTs in football but his leg falls off. You draft a Center to play Guard and it turns out he's a Center. You draft a raw but talented LT only to find out he's an up and down RT. And so it goes.

On paper they haven't drafted that bad. Injuries were always an issue. They could never get on the same page health wise.

And McCoy in the 2nd round when we didn't have a first... We have also spent a ton of premium draft capital on the DLine in that same time frame...

It's mind boggling...

Yeah their history on drafting D line isn't going to give anyone the warm and fuzzies either.

It’s literally a spitting image. Go look at Cowboys philosophy/strategy and it looks like the exact model Loomis follows. Continually draft OL in the first/second round and draft QB late or UDFA. They haven’t drafted a QB in the first round since Aikman and we haven’t since Archie Manning. Jerry Jones loves continuity and familiarity in his coaching staff as well.

And the irony is their best OL picks came in the later rounds during the Loomis/Sean Payton era.

"But he's had success with only great quarterbacks." Lol

Haha, this one cracks me up, with absolutely total disregard of the reason why a team with a great QB would hire Brady in the 1st place, something, something, you don't need a great driver when you have the best car.....

Idiocy.....come on, lets get Brady here....

If Brady comes there is no way he would start Rattler. I don’t think any new coach would consider the possibility of starting Rattler. He needs time to develop and maybe one day he could start. I would expect an offensive coach would bring in a young developmental qb to groom behind Carr.

So, you don't want a coach who won't start a QB who shouldn't be starting? Am I understanding that right? I don't see a problem with that.
