Who won the Marshon Lattimore Trade?

Now we have a reason to root against the Commanders.
And what is that? They did us a favor by giving us quite a respectable haul. Plus, I have no ill will toward marshon...I hope he does well. And Jayden Daniels is so easy to root for. Heck, I am rooting for them to go all the way at this point.

Better to eat it now and get on the other side of it in two years when you hope to be building a contender.
The "interesting" part of all of this will be figuring out how to get under the cap for 2025 without continuing with as much of the can-kicking as we have done. It has been so much of our DNA for the past 16-18 years (and to an extent some years prior to Payton/Brees' arrival) that we're locked into continuing it to some extent. I guess the key will be figuring out who we CAN do it with comfortably and making nickel-and-dime moves to move on from those we can't. It will probably be u-g-l-y.

Impossible to know. In 80 & 81, we traded Chuck Muncie then Wes Chandler to the Chargers. The pick we used from the Muncie trade was used on Rickey Jackson. For Chandler, we got Aundra Thompson (a nobody) and picks we used on Lindsay Scott and another nobody whose name I can't even remember.

On paper, it seems like a decent haul for us and an asset for them.

The more they lose, the higher those picks in the 3rd, 4th and 6th rounds. I didn't go to LSU so the Jayden Daniels thing doesn't do anything for me. Lattimore has nothing to do with it. It's about the picks.

For the better draft pick. Obviously.

saints wont technically know if they won for 3-4 more years once they actually have players.

but on paper, both teams came out better.

anxious to watch the commies now.

Ah, I got you. That makes sense.

I think on "paper" we win for trading an oft-injured CB and his salary for good draft capital.

Time will tell though. It depends on who we get in the draft and how that plays out.

I think no matter how you slice it, though...it was a good move by the Saints. We unload salary at a position where we have rookie contract depth.

I hate to lose good players, but I do approve of this move. This team is in full rebuild mode. Time to stock up on draft picks and clear the cap, hopefully
