Olave took a lot of steps to throttle down on that one. It’s basically same route Mason Tipton ran, just didn’t have the success Tipton did.

Would like to compare the two routes side by side

Olave still struggling at contested catches I see.

Being honest here, Saints might need to trade for a WR. Something about yesterday makes me cautious about Olave handling #1 duties in this offense.

More plays over the middle, more run blocking, more screens, and more expectations for contested catches exposes him to a lot more contact and Olave on the ground makes me hold my breath.

Turner likely was able to get to Carr and knock the ball out of his hands as a fumble but didn’t hit or make any wrap-up contact on him. Strip sack in just the technical term.

Unfortunately I don't see #1 WR in Olave, high end #2 absolutely.

Granted you might not need a true #1 in this offense.

He's not going to body the DB off the ball with the first route, he doesn't have the necessary leverage - mainly due to the route and ball placement.

On the second one, looks like he's on his way to the floor anyway and wasn't going to realistically get hands on it to contest anything.

The first pass is exactly what guys like MT lived off of.

Olave just struggles with contested catches because he's so slight in frame.
