Saints Training Camp Updates Monday 8/31/20 (3 Viewers)

It wouldn’t surprise me if that offer is on the table but Kamara’s camp is asking for McCaffrey’s numbers. I think they will meet between 55-57 mil.
He doesn’t deserve McCaffrey numbers, not because he isn’t as talented but McCaffrey just put up one of the best seasons ever and kamara is coming off injury. He either has to take less or stay where he is on a prove it year. 4 years 50 mil is Derek Henry money and I think more than fare

Love Alvin, but he was very ordinary last season. Even the year before I didn't think he was quite as dynamic as he was his rookie year.

If Alvin had put up two more years like his rookie season, I'd say back up the truck and pay him. But coming off last year, you can't be sure what you are getting going forward. Is he going to be an injury-prone part-timer? Even in the best case scenario, he doesn't get as many touches in Payton's offense as other top line running backs. If you lock him in at $12 million+ a year, that contract could look very burdensome in a couple of years if he keeps getting nicked up. I say use the franchise tag next year, but if he's already holding out, that could be a deal breaker.

Every big contract is a gamble, and not just for the Saints.
There is never a guarantee that any player will continue to produce as when he first turned heads in the league. And no one can know for sure how future nagging injuries will change a player's performance. My guess is that the vast majority of players who get these huge contracts will turn out to be a big financial burden as they near the end of their contract.

Kamara may never be everything that we saw when he first came out of the gate. But he's an effective and integral part of our offense now and we are a better team with him in the backfield than without him. AK's agent is going to highball, and the Saints are going to lowball. They will have to meet somewhere in between. But I still think we need to get him back in training camp as soon as possible.
