Scott Tolzien is the new QB Coach (125 Viewers)

Fair enough. Not directed at you specifically, but it feels like folks think because CKM is a "QB guru" that he can coach up QBs better than others can, so CKM will be able to polish a stone into a gem. And maybe that's partially true, but you can only polish what is already present. What I like about having a "QB guru" on staff (potentially THREE?!) is increased ability to RECOGNIZE winning traits in QB prospects.

I'm not as interested in all these retread QBs being named, as I tend to believe they're retreads for a reason. What I AM interested in is CKMs ability to discern QB traits he can work with and elevate. We need both skillsets (recognition and development), but development without recognition is likely to just be polishing a turd into a coprolite. And in my opinion, coprolite is no gemstone. JMO...

I think the emergence of guys like Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold when they got to places that had the right system for them makes it attractive to give these guys a chance.

Because they tend to be very cheap there is no downside to signing them and the upside is really high because you could end up with a good starting QB on a cheap deal for one year and then a relatively cheap deal for a few more years. It certainly seems more attractive IMO than spending $40 million on a mid-level starter that might not be better than one of the reclamation projects or if he is, isn't enough better for the cost to make sense.
