thats true. Like it or not we are awesome on paper. We have Nationally respected stars at every position group. 1) Vet probowl QB in his prime 2) AK 3) MT 4) Olave 5) Juhan Johnson 6) Penning (yes penning ) 7) Ram 8) Mc Coy 9) Def: 10) Cam 11) Saunders 12) Grand 13) Bresee 14) Werner 15) DD 16) Latt 17) Alonte/Adebo 18) Tyran M 19) Maye - Thats 19 players. I bet this is the most talented team from top to bottom in the Saints history and i may be leaving someone outNope. Payton even came out and said that he didn't see a need in drafting a WR that high. And I think he keeps Hardy and looks for the next blocking WR in the UDFA class rather than Shaheed. In any case, there would be nobody in the TE room besides JJ and Hill, and nobody in the RB room besides Kamara and maybe TJJ. Payton likes UDFAs for some reason. Even brought LJH up to Denver. I'm not sure LJH would even be on anybody else's practice squad.
If Payton were still here, the talent on the offensive side of the ball would be just as terrible as it has been for the last several years under Payton.
And, yes, he was able to have a halfway descent season his last year here in spite of all the injuries. But, I don't think that was sustainable with no talent of the offensive side of the ball. The wheels were always going to come off. I'm just glad they came off in somebody else's back yard.
Say what you want about DA as a HC, but he has added way more talent than the Saints have had in years in just two years with the same salary cap issues that Payton didn't want to deal with.
Sorry for the rant. Just a little bit salty.
