Let's apply the same interpretation filters to this report that some apply to what Moore said about Carr in his press conference. My only point is that it's easy to hear what we want to hear instead of what was actually said.

"Moore only said Carr was a tremendous stater and a premier QB in the league, not the starter for the Saints."

According to Pelissero, some coaches from other teams said, "a guy who looks like he could be a potential future starter in the league." They didn't say he would definitely be a starter, just that he has the potential to be. They also didn't say he has the potential to be a tremendous or premier starter. They just said a starter.

I have no doubt those same coaches also told Pelissero what they thought of Carr, yet we don't hear a word about that. Not one single word. Pelissero has been hyping up Rattler since he interviewed him at the Senior Bowl. He's clearly biased toward Rattler.

Pelissero is also the one who gave us the "report" that Saints execs like Rattler. He didn't say the Saints see Rattler as their future starter or that they like him more than Carr. Pelissero just said that they like him. Other people have also "reported" from time to time that the Saints like Haener, that doesn't mean they see Haener as their future starter either.

Read the articel above carefully and you get this quote, "Pellissero recounted a conversation he had prior to the Saints’ “Monday Night Football” game versus the Green Bay Packers. He asked a staffer about how Rattler was doing. The coach told him Rattler was “doing good."

Pellisero asked a Saints coach how Rattler was doing right before Rattler was about to start a game. The Saints coach was not going to say anything negative about Rattler, even if there were negative things to say about Rattler.

The coach saying Rattler was "doing good" is not exactly the high praise that some seem to think it is. It's definetly not as high a praise as Moore himself saying that Carr is a "tremedous starter" and "premier QB."

It seems obvious to me that Pellisero keeps asking people to comment on Rattler, so he can hyper up Rattler. He's either not asking or not telling us what coaches think about Carr. I have no doubt that if coaches were saying negative things about Carr, he'd be shouting it from internet rooftops.

I thought I saw some reports over the past couple of days saying we'll probably keep Carr. Most people respect Carr for who he is but acknowledge that he isn't elite. You can win with him if everything else is firing, but he's not going to carry a team.
I think Carr is Moore's best chance to win next year and avoid starting a rapid cap cleanup. Ratt is a prospect with some potential, which is what you're getting with a mid-round QB. If Moore wants to start cap cleaning now and set us up for a high draft pick next year, then go with Ratt.
While I have disagreed with you a lot of the time , I completely agree with you this time

Based on what we have and as a fan of Carr I believe he is better than Rattler. That said I believe it’s time to move on from Carr and go with Rattler this year. We need to get away from doing business as usual and pushing issues down the road.

Time to get some speed we have to be one of the slowest teams in the nfl

Carr gives the team the best chance to win 2025. Is he going to lead them to a title? No. Not two years ago. Not last year. Not in the upcoming season. He's a good QB. He's a good guy. But, it was an expensive mistake by Loomis and Co. It's time to move on from the overpriced players and Loomis. Fix the cap and build. Not kick the can and go further backwards. The Eagles didn't ask Hurts to do a lot in the passing game. His talent with his legs is what sets him apart. Rattler can win if he's not asked to do a lot. Moore can make that happen. Regardless, he's a great, cheap option.

We don't know if he can lead them to a title. He hasn't had a competent team around him a whole year.

I just haven't seen what's sold a lot of folks on Rattler. Yes, there's talent, and a great upside. But he's not there yet. I'd put him on par with Haener.

Let them compete for it. If Carr isn't back, bring in a vet (pretty much anyone but Rodgers).

It seems you answered your own question. There's a ton of talent and upside with Rattler. He undoubtedly needs to keep developing. Putting him in a "good system" with a QB guru like Kellen Moore gives him the best chance of reaching that upside. I think most Saints fans realize that the 2025 season is going to very much be a rebuild year. Allowing a QB like Rattler to play with actual 1st team players (unlike the practice squad quality talent he played with most of last year) and learn for a year as a starter gives him a chance to truly develop. If we look at the number 1 overall pick the past 2 years (Bryce Young and Caleb Williams), neither of them were particularly good in their 1st season and showed quite a few struggles. However, Bryce Young "started" to look like he could be the guy about halfway through his 2nd season. It can take time with young QB's. Rattler may or may not be "the guy" none of us know, but if there was ever a season for the Saints to give a young QB a chance to develop, the 2025 season looks to be a good one to do so.

Anyone know if Rattler or Haener stay in NOLA for the off-season?

It would be in their best interest to be around Airline Drive a lot this off-season...
