Carr and Rattler are not good in the pocket, and a strong rush totally kills their games. A starting caliber NFL QB feels pressure and seldom gets hit from behind and/or strip sacked. Carr won't get better, Rattler could possibly be coached up but it could take 2-3 years. I think our 1st or 2nd draft pick should be a QB that can feel and react appropriately to pressure.

No argument here. There problem is there are no sure QBs in this draft. The only two in this draft who I’ve seen do what you’re speaking of is Dart and Gabriel. Dart will likely go off the board before we pick and Gabriel could have some struggles in the NFL due to his size (he’s even smaller then Brees)

The converse is also true. If not Carr, why not say no? If Moore is sold on Haener or Rattler, or is 50/50 as you say, why wouldn't he say that they are going with Haener or Rattler?

What I'd really like to know is why didn't anyone follow up by asking Moore if he decided on Haener or Rattler as his starter?
That's the logical follow up if your goal is to try to find out who the starter is.

Moore was already asked and answered a question about whether he saw Carr as the starter. Trip asked the same question again and he didn't follow up by asking about Haener or Rattler. Neither did anyone else. That's shoddy journalism which is more evidence these guys aren't good at actual journalism.

I think that the reporters knew that Moore was not going to say if he's decided on a starter, so they only asked about Carr, because they know they can get a lot more clicks with Moore not saying yes or no to Carr, than they could from Moore not saying yes or no to Haener or Rattler. They can get more clicks with the story "Moore non-committal on Carr" than they can the story "Moore non-committal on any starting QB."

Mo' clicks, mo' money.
Why would you take a job and in your introductory conference start alienating players and creating division in your locker room.

From report(s) the franchise likes Rattler but that does not mean Moore does not have a QB in mind to kick start this new regime, we could severe the relationship with Carr and Rattler still not start because Moore brings in a guy he's comfortable with and knows his system.

Guys like Jimmy Garappolo, Carson Palmer, Geno Smith, Ryan Tannehill, and Blake Bortles have won 10 games in a season too. None of those guys would be worth $40-$50 if their primes were today either. And to be clear, I do not think Carr is a worse QB than Rattler as it stands today. I just know that Carr isn't the future and if we're looking toward the future we have to look elsewhere while clearing cap and seeing if Rattler can develop. I also do not care about the results of the 2025 season. I care about getting back to feeling like we have a shot when the season starts every year. That is going to take some big changes and having a really expensive mediocre QB doesn't fit in with the changes that I think are needed. A second year guy with a little bit of upside making rookie minimum fits much better.
I think Moore keeps Carr for 1 more year---the dead cap money is hard to swallow for a first year HC. If Moore believes in Rattler, gives him a chance to bridge him in . Lets be honest, Ratman had no shot of winning most of the games he started last year with the injures to all those key offensive players.

Cooper Rush

Can you not see the MAIN reason we were so bad this ys was INJURIES??? We were 2 plays away from being 4-0 going into KC. Even with DA as HC if we just have a reg yrs worth of injuries we probably win the south

Those players may not be in their prime but they are still worth it as starters. In fact Cam was not being used right evidence of how he played at the end of the season. We need an upgrade on the DL especially @ DT to go along with Bresse
Jordan is old, slow, expensive and not productive---put him in the ring when his time comes---not a NFL starter. If/when he is cut just look who comes running to sign him... no one----this goes for Honey Badger. A safety that can't or wont tackle needs to go to the golf course

Did you watch the Super Bowl?
A strong rush kills any QB's game!

It made Mahomes look pedestrian.

In 2023, Carr had 9 wins and 3800 yards with terrible scheme and coaching. Last year, we were a couple of plays away from being 4-0, and injuries/coaching killed our season. He's obviously not the long-term option, but I don't see why so many are in favor of tanking or taking the huge financial hit of cutting him. I say roll with Carr and, over the next year or 2, decide if Spwncer is ready or if we need another option.
It's not about his ability; Carr is a good QB; it's about the team taking a different direction and Carr and the Saints partying way so he can go to a team ready to win, and we can start building a winner and reshaping our Cap.

If Moore and the Saints keep Carr, then so be it, but moving away from him has less to do with ability and more to do with him being brought in as DA's guy and the team just simply going in a different direction with the New Coach.

It is really poor journalism that not one of our "talking head" Saints reporters have contacted Carr to gauge his interest in playing for Coach Moore & the Saints next year...

As you stated DA brought him in & he is getting older. He may want to go to a better situation.

It's because they or their bosses are all a lot more concerned about gathering as many eyeballs as possible to make as much money as possible, than they are concerned about creating good journalism and doing thorough reporting.

I think some people can only see Carr as a "DA guy" and they want nothing to with anything that's DA, so they want nothing to do with Carr.

Look at Carr's percentage of sacks per pass attempts compared to his backups. Even if you throw out Carr's first two games, the gap between Carr and his backups is big. Yet some people insist one of his backups has a better feel for the rush and pocket awareness. Carr's backups were his backups, because Carr is objectively better than his backups.

The people who insist Carr has to go are being subjectively biased in their performance and I think it's mostly driven by the fact they can't see past Carr being "DA's guy." Carr is thought of more highly by coaches and team execs than he is by fans. I'm always going to give more credibility to evaluations from coaches and team execs over evaluations from fans.

I wanted Payton to keep Brooks. When Payton let Brooks go, I figured he knew better than I did and indeed he did.

I thought I saw some reports over the past couple of days saying we'll probably keep Carr. Most people respect Carr for who he is but acknowledge that he isn't elite. You can win with him if everything else is firing, but he's not going to carry a team.
I think Carr is Moore's best chance to win next year and avoid starting a rapid cap cleanup. Ratt is a prospect with some potential, which is what you're getting with a mid-round QB. If Moore wants to start cap cleaning now and set us up for a high draft pick next year, then go with Ratt.
