Should the Saints be Sold? (1 Viewer)

This is nuts. If the Saints are ever sold, they'll be gone.

Crazy...
Nuts yes. However, the hysteria on this forum suggests otherwise. Some folks seem to think that the team is corrupt from top to bottom. Under those circumstances they’re one step from pushing for new ownership. They are not considering the consequences of what they are typing.

After the incredibly vociferous response from the fan base on this forum, I wonder if they still want to supprt the Saints. Some want Dennis Allen and Matt loomis fired. Some think Ms Benson is unqualified to own a NFL team. Some on here are giving credibility to Duncan's posts, but who has been hated here since Bountygate. I would suggest that none of of the posters, NONE, possess the acumen to address the problems within the "culture" of the Saints.

Anyway, back to the title of this [post. If the fan base has lost confidence in Allen, Loomis. and Ms Benson to run the team. Would they want it sold. Let's digest that possibility. If the Saints are sold, would they remain in the Big Easy? Don't know. It's possible. I remember 2005.

I would hope my fellow fans would tamp down their temptuous childish anger and wait for the off season to unfold. It just seems that a 9-8 season is no reason to assume that the sky has fallen.
Randy, I have felt your pain when it comes to this forum. I have been on here since it was called ironera.com ditka was the coach. Posters on here rarely like to have a good discussion about the team, they just want to tear them apart. I feel like the team is in good hands , just very conservative hands. THey have never been a team that makes quick emotional decisions. Yes that frustrates me at times however i think that we have the best ownership in the NFL. I also think that between Dennis Lausha and Mickey Loomis we are in great hands. They are very methodical in moves. If we weren't we wouldn't be in the salary cap situation that we are in. Mickey invests in the future , sometimes i don't understand it but i have to respect his decisions. I met him on the golf course one day at TPC avondale he was in the group behind me. It was a slow day and i saw him while i was on the tee box. It was right before Payton left . They had a difficult season covid, no fans, we played 5 different starting qbs. I just told him thank you. I waited 40yrs before we won a superbowl. I honestly never thought i would ever experience that as a Saints fan. I told him i was good for the rest of my life. He said that he wasn't! He said we should have had 3 at least under Brees. So I really feel like he's not finished and wants more and will do whatever it takes to do it again. I really feel like he thought SP was coming back and just wanted a year off. I think that took him off guard. I don't think he thinks that DA is the answer but doesn't want to bail on him a year too early. I am a fan of DA as DC not HC. I think and i've said it on this forum. If we got Jon Gruden to come help with the offense. He would make Carmichael better, he would make Carr better and he would light a fire under DA. DA needs help he's not a leader. He's needs to show some emotion and not be so passive. Gruden would chew him up and spit him out. So here you go . Here is my discussion. The team can't be sold based on succession until Gayle dies and it has to stay in NOLA. Lausha and Loomis are really the owners per se. They are not going any where until they want too! WHODAT!

Sports, the only thing that’ll get you riled up like talking about your momma. It’s a game dude, it’s not that serious. And yes, the team should probably be sold but none of us has 8 billion dollars so our opinions don’t matter.

If a buyer committed to keeping the team in New Orleans yes they should be sold imo. You can call it childish because it’s not your opinion but take every bit of emotion out of it. This is a business. I can’t name any business decisions that benefited this team since Tom passed. I don’t expect them to sell the team and I would love to see Gayle and whoever else is making executive decisions turn this around but I have no reason to believe it’s going to happen.

DC fans hoped for the day that Synder would sell the team, and that day finally came last year. I see no problem with that thought because it's becoming increasingly obvious that Lucky Loo answers to no one in practice. I'm still trying to figure out how and why Sean and Mickey scammed the old man from ostracizing his daughter/grandkids. I understand they were tripping but damn. That said, the unfortunate byproduct of being from poor states like ours is that there aren't any homegrown billionaires that can make such a move and keep the team in NOLA.
This is what a lack of hope looks like; that's what Lucky and the Deer have done to this fanbase.

Gayle should not sell the team. I don’t think she is a bad owner bc she stays in her lane and is drama free. I love the fact that our owner is not a subject of bad publicity like some owners. That is a breath of fresh air.
Exactly. Sorry but I would rather have that type of owner then someone like a meddling Jerry Jones who is supposedly focused on winning... But yet instantly hijacks his team

What is this supposed to be? Scare tactics? Well if you guys don't like everything and agree with what's going on then maybe they should just sell the team then, is that about right Randy? Get outta here with that. I'll b**ch and complain all I want and don't need anyone telling me different. After next year you'll be searching for new coaching candidates just like the rest of us.

We seem to be caught up with arguments based on the extremes. However, there is a general feeling that there is no accountability coming from ownership at this point. Lucky is on cruise control with a job for life.
These are the historical model franchises, and many of them are associated with the original teams:
Pitt
KC
Giants
Ravens(?)
I'm not saying these are the only good owners, but these are the franchises that have put consistent winners on the field and have solid organizational structures over a long period. When coaches don't win, you know the organization has the proper people to right the ship. Due to the nature of our current structure, I'm not too confident about what will happen in the future. I may be wrong, but Lucky Loo is accountable to no one, and he seems to be digging in on a bad decision, in my view.
Time will tell.

OMG. So if you criticize the organization, you want the team sold. And on the side, you are engaging in mass hysteria and have developed a herd mindset--and then there was something about hanging the innocent.

No, I do not want the team sold, which is not going to be an easy task if the objective is to sell the team to someone who would never relocate the franchise. But I do want those at the top to hold people accountable, and I want those at the top to be held accountable.

The reason that Dennis Allen was named head coach--the rationale stated--was the belief that the Saints were in fact a contending team, that we did not want major change but instead wanted to largely keep doing what we had been doing, and that Allen represented continuity. Some on this board disagreed with the premise that the Saints were a contending team, believed that major change was needed, and thought Allen a poor choice for head coach. I believe the last two seasons suggest that those questioning Loomis and his actions in recent years were right. Let's see what happens in the next 12 months.
