Sneaux next week [Historic snowstorm in southeast Louisiana on January 21, 2025] (2 Viewers)

Provisions down to like, halfway.
Lost internet for 10 minutes, but the fearless among us did not panic. Resilient.
Mission to create snowman failed miserably. Aborted 3rd attempt. Project clearly above pay grade and education levels.
After day 2-- cabin fever setting in.
Must make it through the final thaw without violence.
You need writing lessons from @buzd. Where's the passion? The drama?

We need to feel the words.

I had a feeling Ms. DOT was opening the roads and bridges too soon. I-10 west just got closed again . It's only 24
currently. I feel more will come soon

I think by this afternoon, things should be mostly safe. Things were melting fast yesterday and it will be faster today.

Still trying to try to figure out if I can get to Covington by 2
Causeway is still close
Maps has me going through Slidell (but on 90 until the Lake)
But there’s a red warning on 1st exit in Slidell, so???

I'm supposed to be at work at 1130. If it doesn't hurry up, I don't see that happening. My Car,Lawn, and driveway
and still covered with a sheet of ice

We've just gotten north of freezing in Gretna. Even first thing this morning, the surface streets (back streets, though) in my neighborhood were largely ice-free. The worst you'd see was some slushy areas, but no "sheets of glass" that I could find while walking about.

One of the cars in our driveway was covered in crusty frost at around 7:30 a.m., but was completely cleared by the morning sun by 9:00 a.m. (and probably earlier). I know cars in the sun thaw differently than concrete in the sun ... but still.

Only caveat -- since the Causeway is over water, do we know whether there's a lot of standing snow still on it? Trying to find very recent aerial views of the NOLA area highways (preferably since sunrise this a.m.).
