So let's get this started, Jayee Horn, Christian Macaffrey +#1draft choice for Sean Payton? (1 Viewer)

I don't think Payton would want to go to the Panthers. I know we hold his rights, but Loomis for sure will let him pick which team he wants to go to and I doubt we get a first rd pick.

Based on what? Oakland got two 1sts, two 2nds, and $8m trading Gruden. If the Saints can't land at least one 1st rounder for a Head Coach with Payton's resume, it is time to find a new owner and fire Loomis.

I've been scanning the Panther message boards. I think, if Loomis asked in just the right way, that we could possibly pick up Baker Mayfield as part of the trade.

For example: Without Mayfield, maybe we get 3 first round picks...

With Mayfield, however, we may be able to get them to give us 7-8 first round picks.

Had me in the first half not gonna lie.

I think the highest bidder should get him but I also think we could swing a trade this year for him. No reason to wait until the season is over. I’m pretty sure rules for coaches trades are not the same for player trades. I think a team trading for a coach can void the Rooney Rule also.

Why would Payton want to go to a team with Mayfield, Darnold and Walker as its QBing corps? Especially if it cost them the 1st overall pick. Ridiculous.

None of this will happen. We'll be lucky to get first round draft choice, more likely a second. Payton is not going to want to handicap the team he is going to in order to give up valuable draft picks or players to the Saints. Payton can sit out another year or so until his contract runs out.

Thank you, someone finally gets it. I’d be absolutely shocked if we get anything more than a 2nd. I’d put money on a 3rd or 4th. The Jon Gruden trade is NEVER happening again. Payton would sit out before going to a team without any draft capital. A lot of our fellow fans are absolutely delusional and will be incredibly disappointed when the day comes.

Everyone wants to bring up the Gruden trade. What other examples are there? Different times. Also, Loomis has a relationship with Payton and will likely not hold him hostage. We are getting nothing near that return if Payton returns to coaching.

Oh, i think we definitely get at least one #1 pick. I think that's why we traded away our number 1 pick next year for Penning. To think we wil only get a 3rd or 4th is ignorant! SP is worth at least a 1st round pick. But yes he wants and needs a QB.

Loomis isn't going to try to "wrong" Payton, but Loomis' job is to take care of the Saints first. Payton also knows this as does the rest of the league. If a team is willing to wait years for Payton to be a true free agent, good for them. If Payton wants to wait years to be a true free agent, good for him. But any team that is going to want Payton next season knows at least one first is going to be absolute minimum... and if it isn't and Loomis moves Payton for less, he should be fired immediately.

The Bucs, Panthers, and Falcons are disqualified from all trade talks for Payton.
How would it REALLY work if Sean Payton was traded by the Saints to the Falcons? Does Sean Payton have to legally and formally adopt Arthur Blank and become his legal daddy, or can he just be still considered his unofficial daddy?

Price then goes way, way, way up.
This.

Everything has a price. And the price for Carolina would be very steep indeed. But their owner is desperate enough to try it.

Although I don't think Sean would coach in Carolina, based on the kind of things he's looking for in a team.

Then he doesn’t get to coach next year
Saints hold the cards
