Sony Michel scheduled to visit Saints (2 Viewers)

I don't know what you were watching last year, but aside from the euphoria of having him back he was not the same player, he was slow to the edge on toss plays and though was effective between the tackles did not have the speed or power of previous years

The Saints let him go at the right time and brought him back based off need not production.

He managed almost 4 ypc last year behind a junk line on a team covered up in injuries when everyone knew what was happening.

I think I'll reserve judgment until we see him this year.

I remember a few years ago there was big debate on whether or not AK is bell cow. My point was that he absolutely can be a bell cow but just because he can doesn't necessarily mean he should.

Well fast forward to today and the Saints have used him in a tandem with Ingram/Murray with great success while other RBs have been run into the ground. Then last season he had a career high 287 touches and had his worst statistical season. Obviously there were a lot of factors to consider but still. I think it's clear that AK will always be best used in a tandem. Let AK work outside in space and use him in the passing game. Let another back get some of those tough yards between the 20s.
I started to cringe when they handed Kamara the ball last year. 2021 probably counted as three seasons against his body. Didn’t help that the OL was weak and we had no decoys. He took a beating.

I agree, based on his Ravens experience you would have thought he was done....he is clearly not done....how much he has left in the tank? That's the question.....at least to me his play last year was a pleasant surprise....

A good role for Ingram might be as "the closer'', fresh legs in the 4th quarter. I hope we sign Michel. I think the rookie Smith might also factor in the run game as well.
I think we will unfortunately find out this season Ingram is on his last legs and will provide very little to the team.

Very important to sign Michel.

I think Kamara probably won't get his suspension till 2023. So, I'm not really worried about that anymore. I would like a real #2 RB, but I'm not dying to get one.

Anyone expecting Michel to some in a start over Ingram needs to rethink their strategy. There’s a reason why Michel is not on a team right now. He may be better than what we have at RB3, but he’s not better than Ingram.

I love MI and was pleasantly surprised by his production for us but I would take Michel on this roster every single time over MI....He is only 27 for one and in his prime.....MI is on the backend of his career.....

That is highly debatable
Yeah, I agree. He may not be better than Mark Ingram was, but I think he's better than Ingram is now. Unfortunately the Mark Ingram I watched last season looked like the classic late-career RB who can still read and feel the blocking develop but lacks the quick feet to get there in time anymore. And I say that sadly because I've always LOVED the many ways Ingram has made the team better, on the field and in the locker room.

Most teams aren’t in need of a RB2, slash borderline RB1, that’s why he’s still unsigned. It’s the same reason Landry and OBJ aren’t signed as well since teams aren’t in any rush to fill their rosters with high priced FA for secondary positions on their depth chart.

We signed HB a week ago and I’m pretty certain he’s a great player. Being available this late in the offseason is not a reflection of the player’s talent.

Landry came off a horrible season and OBJ is injured. Pretty clear reasons that aren’t on team…especially when considering what they likely expect. There aren’t incredibly talented starters that are healthy walking the street right now. Michel is OK. He’s likely better than TJJ and therefore a guy I’d like to add. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Sadly I agree whole heartedly. I love Ingram. I love what he brings to the team, in every way. But, like you I could see where he has lost that critical half step where he just cannot hit the openings fast enough anymore. I hope I’m wrong, I hope there was a nagging injury, or some form of training to get some more time. But sadly, I think the end is near.

Ingrams first gm back with us last year he looked great and I was like whoa he’s back but after that gm it never was really there but I’m still glad he’s on the team. Michel would be a must if injuries occur
