Sony Michel scheduled to visit Saints (1 Viewer)

W/or without a looming suspension signing Sony would be a great move for the team. We already have Mark, & Sony would be a massive upgrade over Tony Jones.

Excited we got Abram Smith, but the reality is that he’s an UDFA who’s raw at the the position. In my opinion, signing Sony would level up the RB corps immensely. That dude is a starting caliber player, who if given the opportunity, i can see being a true feature back.

Exactly.

When AK comes off the field, odds are that the entire world is aware we're about to call a passing play. We need to keep opposing defenses on their heels and by adding Michel, it would do just that. It would have the same impact as adding Olave next to Thomas in regards to our passing game.

Loomis is no idiot and I'm fairly certain he sees it to, so I wouldn't be shocked if we were to sign Michel. If you ask me who I want between the two and I can't have both, I'm taking Michel over Landry.
I've always loved when our hand wasn't tipped pre-snap due to which RB was in the game. There have been several years where just as an average fan you could guess run/pass based on which RB was in there. But when PT was on the field it could be anything. With AK & Ingram you couldn't tell what was coming.

With Drew it didn't really matter though. Everyone knew what SP's offense was about. It was no big secret but it was executed so well that you couldn't stop it. Going forward with Winston though, it would be nice if defenses didn't get to sell out one way or the other. Just that split second of hesitation can make a difference. Force defenses to think a little to slow them down.

I want Michel more as well as RB is the bigger need . MI does not have it anymore and he is another player who has fallen into "well he can block" category lol

People keep saying Ingram is washed up, but what on earth makes anyone believe that?

He played well last year here given the situation adn he hasn't taken a beating in a couple of years. I don't think he's something we hang a season on, but he's surely not washed up.

I fully agree and that’s the main reason why I was on the Williams bandwagon, because his blazing speed would help open up the field for everyone else, especially MT and AK. We got a more well rounded WR who can stretch the field as well and run better routes, so I’m good with that option as well.

Like you, I find that creating this illusion of doubt is something we need to bring back because like you said, it can give Winston and our offense that half second we need to complete our play. Being too transparent isn’t a bad thing when you have the players to make it work but I’d rather go with deception.

I miss the days of the "ghost motion" ...maybe it'll be brought back this year

Damn, and here I kept thinking how loyal and smart I was a saints fan.

good way to cover up the draft dodo that lost 3rd and 4th where a kid like Cook could have been drafted with 4 year cost control. We need a Rb and DT
It's a shame the actual professionals disagree with your "mock" draft. Personally I'll let them make the decision over some random fan that might have played some HS ball or JV college.

I think Ingram may still have some left, but at this point, who knows how much? I also thought he looked pretty good last year, given the patchwork o-line, which is also probably part of the reason why TJJ didn’t look so hot. The line wasn’t really able to open holes at times like we’re used to. That said, I think adding another proven back, who is still relatively young is a wise move, regardless of the questions surrounding the group.

I don't think washed up is really the right term. He still brings some things to the table but his numbers over the past few years indicate a typical decline for a RB on the wrong side of 30. I want him on the roster but at this point in his career I just don't think you want him seeing the bulk of the touches.

Having said that, he did play behind a heaping wreck of an O line last season. And defenses weren't really afraid of our passing attack. They were able to tee off on our backs. Even AK failed to reach 4 yards per carry. His 3.7 ypc was the lowest of his career by far. So maybe with better QB play, other weapons on the field, and a healthy O line he'll still have some juice. But if they go into the season with a 32 year old Ingram and Tony Jones Jr, that's a risky proposition with little upside.
