Sony Michel scheduled to visit Saints (3 Viewers)

Kinda makes sense - as an independent reporter, the team knows he’s not trying to write some national editor’s narrative
But they also know that if he ***** with them, they can essentially blackball him and watch his subscriptions wither away
Anyone who subscribes to an independent sports journalist/writer for early information, before the story is factual, is simply silly. What is the significant point of being the first to know about a possible signing? It is not all that special, or important. Once the signing is official, then the facts of how it all evolved and why it evolved, MAY be an interesting read. 🤷‍♂️

Michel is a great fit for our offense and what we do, which I believe should continue with PC. He's really been under-utilized in the passing game in his career also, which I think he could excel at if given the opportunity.

This would be a great fit if we can land him and really round-out our RB room quite well.

Michel is a great fit with our offense but I am not sure we are a great fit for him.

He is a young, former first rounder, who should be looking for opportunities to be a feature back.

I know right now it is between the saints and dolphins. These teams are not the ideal situation for him.

Now after saying that, I hope we get him. It will be a great unit if we have Kamara, Ingram, Michel and Abram Smith.

I fully agree with you but the RB position is one that teams don't like to invest too much capital on, unless you have a legit stud. There's a reason why none of them get picked at the top of the draft board and when they do, teams usually regret it sooner rather then later.

If Michel is looking for a starting job, I think he'll be left holding the bag but if he's looking to complement an RB1 in a good situation, he'll have great numbers and that might boost his stock on his next deal. I feel we're a prime candidate for that and the fact that he can be our main guy while AK is out is another added bonus for us.

Feature back gigs are rare and really only for the handful of truly elite RB's. This would be a great situation for Michel and really solve our RB issue to pair with Kamara for several years if we can get him to sign that long of a contract.

Also if the team doesnt want something to get out, it doesn't

That used to be less so with Payton in his later years. He seemed to be leaking stuff left and right. In fact, several reporters have commented recently that there are far fewer leaks now that Payton is gone. I don't think that's coincidence.

Does Michel play special teams at all or is he going to replace Ingram?

Forget Kamara "possible suspension" he'd be a good addition to the RB room teamed with Kamara, Michel can catch and run and is 27yrs old.

Yeah, I think we needed another RB to share carries with Kamara regardless of any suspension. Kamara is best when you limit his touches to 20 or so per game. We don't want to run him into the ground like Carolina did with McCaffery. We had no choice last year after they mistakenly though that Jones, Jr. could replace Murray, but they should really add a partner for Kamara this year.

That's not why people subscribe to Nick. They subscribe because he knows what he is talking about, knows football inside and out, and is a good writer. He's also a good guy that gives back to the community. The fact that he also sometimes breaks stories first is just extra. And, frankly, when he has actual breaking news, he basically always posts it on Twitter for free for everyone to see. It's just the little bits of information like, the team really likes X or Y player, that he tends to only put on the Members only pod or in articles on his website.

So, basically, he's the best reporter covering the Saints. That's what people pay for. It's no different than subscribing to NOLA.com. It's just that you get a better writer with more knowledge and more information.

I'm def giving you, your props if your prediction comes true. Good Stuff.

Except Sony Michel can't be the player that Detillier was talking about since he has no ties to Louisiana. He's the son of Hatian immigrants, went to high school in Florida, and college in at Georgia. So, either there is another potential signing with Louisiana ties, Detillier got bad information, or the deal fell through.
