Spencer Rattler 2024 rookie highlight reel (6 Viewers)

He's ok for what he is a rookie regardless of who he had on the field he did ok in some spots definitely a lot of room for improvement as far as passing and decision making goes but definitely has potential. I Wouldn't go as far to say he needs to be the guy starting right now tho.

Rattler was not the reason he didn't win in his starts. The kid played well, but when you trout a rookie out with a bunch of players that aren't good, what can you expect?
He nearly brought the team back from Haener's bad start against the future NFC Championship game participant Washington and might have succeeded had we went to OT instead of going for the 2pt conversion. He was pretty good that game and had a better QBR than Carr had the week before against the 3rd pick in the draft Giants.

They definitely are not judgement tools. You don’t go 0-6 without some really low lights as well. I probably won’t go back and rewatch entire games that Rattler started, but I don’t know why anyone was expecting him to come in and save the season. We just lacked talent everywhere and QB really was not the main problem. The defense lost a lot of games for us as well.
Old defense bad no offensive weapons

If we can reasonably move on from "not the answer/not the problem" Carr.. I just don't see a big downside to rolling with Rattler this year.* Maybe it becomes clear early on that he doesn't have it even when surrounded by better players.. OK in that case we're likely drafting high the next year and on to the next young QB.

(*It would have to be us absolutely nailing the draft and looking at it and saying that with Carr this was a Super Bowl caliber team.. and I just don't think that's very realistic.)

Coaching failed Rattler more than Rattler failed himself. I didn’t see some of things I like to see in rookie QB’s, but I’m really glad we have an “Offensive genius” at head coach now who’ll be running the offense. He’ll watch all the film and decide if Rattler is worth pushing forward with or not. I feel infinitely better that Moore is doing it and not a DA led coaching staff.

That's true. It's also true that a lot of the mistakes Rattler made are 100% on him and not because of the players around him.
So you expect a 5th round rookie to play mistake free football on a team coached by a historically bad coach with UDFA level talent around him?

I'm not mad at the way he played at all. I was impressed by the way his body language stayed positive even when things weren't going well.

Right? He was leading the offense very well that game, made some great throws and it never looked too big for him. Haener completed a whopping 4 passes for 49 yards (1 thrown short to AK who took it 29 yards) and no scores. While I didn't disagree with going for the 2pt conversion at the time, I think Rattler would have won that game had it gone to OT.

Does it look like to you that I said I did? I ask, because I didn't say anything like that. It would be helpful if you read what I write, instead of reading into it things that aren't there.
