For me,

COMBINES
Combines are an interesting nuissance of analysis. I prefer playing speed over putting a man in track shoes and timing him.

SENIOR BOWL
I have the fortune & misfortune have NOT watching the Senior Bowl. THere are two ways of looking at this: 1) He knew he needed a big game and played with maximum effort. This could mean he will go back to slacking it in the NFL like he did all season in college. 2) He was slacking and realize he needed to play with greater intensity, and therefore came out with maximum effort and concentration. In the NFL, he will know he will have to play that way if he wants to stay in the league.

I personally believe it will come down to the FO one on one communication with him. If he is a character guy and his honest about his ethics & commitments, then the Saints may draft him at #10.

As I said before,... The draft is a crap shoot,... but my new phrase is,... the draft is like a box of chocolat, you never know what you gonna get! :ezbill:

This will remain true until we discover the exact "thing" that will indicate which players have the "thing" to suceed in the NFL.

Not when the cousin happens to be Antonio Cromartie.

Deion Sanders, who was maybe the best DB ever, said that DRC was the real deal and even compared him to himself on the NFL Network. I'll take the words of a future hall of famer over some website.
Darrell Green said David Jones was the real deal. Green who is a 2008 HOF inductee.

If that's the case then Jordan's kid should be a lottery pick because he has a great gene pool. Yes the same kid that couldn't even earn a scholarship.

I'm not trying to downplay his ability. If he's the real deal then he is, just don't say he is because Sanders says so and he's the cousin of a current NFL CB.

Aaron Brooks is Michael Vicks cousin but athletically they arent quite the same.

thats true

so i guess DRC sucks. maybe we should draft balmer instead. i dont think he has any cousins

none of us know who's on the saints board... hell it could be the OT baker from USC for all we know... my pref would be, in order, BPA, DT, LB, S, OL, CB
Right, but Sportingnews.com says he's "Is a better athlete than football player" and, well
you might have missed his point... i think he's questioning your logic (and rightly so, if you follow the posts)

As I've stated before, I think DRC will have similar success to Boss Bailey

I guess the point I was trying to make is not so much that I don't think Rogers-Cromartie will be a great corner, but that it will take time, and I think the Saints, with prudent selections have the talent to contend now.

To all of you wanting to draft him for his cousin's ability. I have 2 words for you.... Marcus Vick.

No I knew what he was doing. Throughout the Hasslet era we drafted and signed athletes, not football players. I don't want an athlete, I want a football player even if he is less athletic.

DRC scares me as well he is a great athlete but playing CB in the NFL is about more then a fast 40 time and a good senior bowl.

He should have dominated at his college level.

This has been my opinion all along. McKelvin would be able to be part of the return game with Reggie and would be way more able to start his rookie year. DRC would need at least a year, maybe more, maybe never. If you aren't highly recruited to college, for whatever reason, that's fine, but if you can't destroy the Ohio Valley Conference your senior year, how are you gonna do against NFL recievers? If MM is healthy at the start of camp, I want to see this.
DT (Dorsey, Ellis, Balmer) or OT (Clady) in the first. Linebackers should be solid barring injury, but we need more, go with a WLB in the second (Adibi). TE should be addressed in the third and then you have 4 picks to take a chance with. I just am really fearful of taking a "flyer" such as DRC in the 1st. The next Deion? Please, Deion set a picks record at FSU when they were playing top college teams every saturday. DRC doesn't compare. We almost all agree the combine doesn't mean vey much, so basically we a selling him based on one all-star game. Do we really want to be the team that puts that much stock in an all-star game? I just hope the Pats make the pick before us and we get to see an end to their amazing draft streak
