I disagree. It’s historical perspective. Anyone who knows anything about football history still looks at the Saints as one of the “historically bad” NFL franchises. Despite the successes of the Payton/Brees era - there is still a stigma attached to the Saints franchise in the eyes of other NFL fans.

Terrible take, and objectively inaccurate.. i have a steady diet of diverse national sports media that i watch/listen to, and just regular folks i talk to- and ur view is just detached from the reality in 2024 .

We'll see if the media keeps the same energy, too. I still haven't found a Falcons fan who was offended. Even the one guy who complained about them getting the TD out of the Victory formation agreed that it was actually a heads-up play when I pointed out that the ATL D-line fired off the ball when it was snapped instead of just standing up as is tradition.

We had this team 17-0 in the 4th and folks were worried about playing the Cowgirls in the wildcard game. I’m still not a DA fan, but we were (are) not that far off.

Exactly that’s what I was saying. Oddly the team that beat us the worst isn’t even in the playoffs. ( Minn)

I don’t know about that. Since the Benson family acquired the team in ‘86, the Saints are a bunch of games over .500 (I think .535).

Given the average age of NFL players and coaches, I don’t think there are many who would remember the pre-Benson era when the Saints were in the Browns-Bengals-Jets-Lions tier — and things change so fast that you cantilevered even include the non-Jets teams without qualification.
