Suppose Sean is gone ... For Entertainment Only (1 Viewer)

I like Allen as a coordinator but continuity isn't a compelling enough reason for me to want the team to just settle on him as the next coach. Is he the right person to take over the team? His head coaching resume isn't encouraging, so what else? I'd hope Loomis would engage in the same due diligence in replacing Payton as he did in hiring him, whoever the next coach is.

I will go out on a limb and say not Josh McCown or Luke McCown either for that matter.

I wouldn't want to hand the keys to anyone. I don't think there's anyone including DA that has done enough to warrant that. However, I would want DA to be given every opportunity to present a plan and compete with other candidates. I think he's earned the right to make his case.

Suppose I win the lottery and buy everyone on Saints report a smoothie from Smoothie King.

Well in that case, I'll take the...

If itā€™s true Allen interviewed for the Bears then I canā€™t see any way Payton can leave. They would not allow Allen to leave and I donā€™t think Payton would do that to us.

I would want an offensive minded coach as that is what this league has become. Look at the 4 head coaches left in the playoffs right now. Defensive specialists are de cordinators only I think

I'd like the continuity aspect. And I really like Allen's skills as a defensive schemer. But I'm wondering if Allen would have the same Parcells-no-nonsense quality that Sean Payton has to occasionally employ as a head coach.

But part of me would also really want to see Eric Bienemy get an opportunity here.

But seriously, I think we can all agree that this would only work out if he hires Saint Kamara to replace himself as Defensive Coordinator. Possibly Special Teams Coordinator as well. And probably Offensive Coordinator if Carmichael calls a couple bad plays in a row. I mean, if that happens, WATCH OUT NFL.

Do we give DA the keys to the franchise ?

I prefer the continuity he and our defense have. I'd imagine we move forward as a defensive team.

Pete Carmichael gets the controller on offense ?
Give the keys to Pete Carmichael just to see what happens. That's the only thing that makes any sense at this point.

thats what im thinking, plus it would keep the saints an attractive place for FAs. My biggest concern with carmichael or DA taking over is FAs turning us down for other places to play.
