Tankathon: Saints top 5 draft pick watch-Updated (50 Viewers)

Saints doing Saints things. Winning enough to hover around 11-16 but not winning enough to be a real contender. Problem is Rizzy has been told he has a very good chance at actually getting the job so he’s coaching for his job. Loomis is a creature of habit and he likes what he knows. Even if that known isn’t the best option.

There are 5 four win teams. If they all win, the highest we might go is 5. I have no clue how any of the tie breakers work.

Basically, root for Ws by the Raiders vs Chargers and Chicago vs Seattle to get to #8. The other 4-12 teams have SOS so low that a win doesn't move the needle.

My main concern is that I don't want us wasting our perfect draft position on a position that will come bite us back down the road.

Please do not draft any RBs, FS, CBs, WRs with our 1st Round pick.
We have to take bpa no matter what position it is, every position needs to be upgraded

If we lose that stupid Giants game we would be tied at 4-12 with 6 other teams. Based on SOS that would have given us the 7th pick going into week 18. A loss against the Bucs and wins by the Panthers, Jets, and Jags would vault us up to the 4th pick. There would have even been an unlikely possibility for the 2nd pick.

If you go back to the Atlanta game, which we had no business winning, but the Failcons are so bad they lose to the worst Saints team in nearly 20 years, we are sitting at 3-13 and the 2nd pick in the draft.

Now the best we can hope for is pick 8.

Hope we enjoyed those Ws....they're gonna come at a cost

We can’t go quarterback because the top will be gone and we can’t move on from Carr/ Spencer in 2025.

Don’t need a running back or offensive tackle. Too low a pick for a guard or center.

So we trade back for a late 1st round and take a (tight end) and a 2026 1st round pick.

I think we would be best served loading up for 2026 with draft capital to get our franchise quarterback. The franchise will have to rejuvenate fan interest by then.

I approach each season with optimism but 2025 IMHO is a write-off.

So, is the 2026 draft class supposed to be better? I am hoping for a QB in 2026, 2027 at the latest.
