Would it kill the NFL to have someone like Metallica, Nickleback (for a slightly more pop audience), or God Smack play.. their music screams football and hurting people. haha.

I've never understood this either. The only entertainer i've remotely enjoyed at a football game, was Creed about 10 years ago who did the half time at a cowboys thanksgiving day game.

I can only assume the suits at the NFL just don't like metal or hard rock in any form. its ironic because it was MTV and their "popular" stuffed that turned the NFL with the janet jackson halftime show.

False - they are awful. If you think they are one of the best musical acts around then clearly you are not a musician yourself. I could teach a ten year old all of their songs - overrated and boring. That music has absolutely no edge - i don't understand why more aggressive isn't featured at football games - it is a brutally violent sport.

Metallica, no. They lost me as a fan when they played Motorbreath and Four Horsemen acoustically then plugged back in to play that inane garbage Fuel. Metallica can rot for all I care. Cliff must be rolling over in his grave.

Nickelback? That twangy crybaby whining we wanna be rockers but can only make pop country garbage?

Godsmack? Eh. They never impressed me live. Almost seemed to be going through the motions when they play.

I've heard the DMB live garbage (the thing we do for a piece of strange, eh boys?), and it did not impress me. Same lousy lyrics. I fell asleep twice during the listening, which is a huge red flag for me. If something puts even my insomniatic self to sleep, it is To Be Avoided At All Costs.

I'm not shocked at the choice for acts though. Inoffensive, bland. Blah.

Pretty much how I feel.

There's nothing worse than jumping in the car for the 1k mile trek from here to NO and having the wife play those live CDs. I don't really complain much, because usually I need sleep by that point. We had to come to an agreement that the driver picks the music to keep me from falling asleep at the wheel.

They were running a re-run of SNL last night and it had Taylor Swift on it. She's pretty good. More folksy, so still goes with the whole "doesn't fit with football" theme, but I think the people that go see it will enjoy it.

She was funny in the skits, not that it matters for a concert. ;o) I guess it just makes me dislike her less.
