Taysom’s usage this season. (1 Viewer)

It looks to me that is more an inability to adjust than reliance on one player.
Since McCoy went down, there has been no adjustment to secure the middle of the line. I know that McCoy and Taysom are all that and a bag of chips, but the drop off is abysmal; you continuously see the DTs taking b-lines to Carr.
Even with McCoy out Taysom was balling. What I think it shows is a lack of talent at key positions mainly tightend but also wide receiver and running back.

I think that Kendre Miller will quietly add a fresh and explosive playmaker Monday night who will complement AK very well especially if Taysom is out. I still think he has upside in this offense.

Hill just being on the field means you have to account for him. We have nobody else that draws that much attention anymore. Maybe AK, but not to the same level as Hill.
This is so simple to see. He has to be accounted for in so many ways, opens things up for others. That some folks don’t see this is fascinating to me.

I was never in the Taysom needs to be QB crowd but he sure has shown that he’s super valuable elsewhere. Having said all of that he’s old (football wise) and cannot hold up.

Injury prone how? Do you know Hill has played in 32 of 34 games over the past two seasons? Maybe you mean that tuff son of a gun plays through injury?
Well in college he had three separate season ending injuries if I recall correctly. Then since he became a pro, he’s had numerous injuries, never quite season ending but he gets banged up, which is just due to how he’s used and how physical he is. He’s prone to getting injured- doesn’t mean he’s necessarily prone to being injured bad enough to end a season, but he’s not getting younger and the lengths of time that he’ll miss due to these injuries that continue to pile up will only get longer. Just the nature of the beast

Preach It Brother! (I won't bother pasting the numerous reply posts suggesting Hill is injury prone)

Facts here get disregarded as meaningless to the masses who would rather believe something other than the Truth.

Of the Saints players who entered the league in 2017 and are still with the team, below are their names and the number of games missed due to injuries:

Marshon Lattimore - Drafted in the 1st Round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Pick #11 Overall - 26 Games Missed Due To Injuries

Ryan Ramczyk - Drafted in the 1st Round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Pick #32 Overall - Now 30 Years Old - 18 (and counting) Games Missed Due To Injuries

Alvin Kamara - Drafted in the 3rd Round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Pick #67 Overall - Now 29 Years Old - 11 Games Missed Due To Injuries (3 Games Missed Due To Suspension
Taysom Hill - Undrafted Rookie Free Agent 2017 - Now 34 Years Old - 8 Games Missed Due To Injuries

Players who were drafted by the Saints in 2017 but are now on a different team, below are their names and the number of games missed due to injuries:

Marcus Williams - Drafted in the 2nd Round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Pick #42 Overall - Now 28 Years Old - 18 Games Missed Due To Injuries

Alex Anzalone - Drafted in the 3rd Round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Pick #76 Overall - Now 30 Years Old - 31 Games Missed Due To Injuries

Trey Hendrickson - Drafted in the 3rd Round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Pick #103 Overall - Now 29 Years Old - At Least 8 Games Missed Due to Injuries, Possibly More

While many members here routinely state that Hill is injury prone, the truth is he has been quite durable in his 8-year NFL career to this point.

And for those that say the injuries he has had coupled with his age are showing up on him I ask you these questions:

Did his burst of speed when he hit the hole from the tailback position on his touchdown run look like he's lost a step?

Did his legs look weak when he bullied his way for a 1st down Sunday or when he scored either of his two touchdowns when trucking through defenders?

Did we not just get told recently by the Saints sports science guru that Hill just squatted a personal best 685 pounds and was getting stronger and faster at 34 yrs. old?

Injuries happen to football players of all ages. They are not necessarily age specific. In almost all cases they are caused by freak accidents.

Unfortunately, Hill actually is Human, and like the rest of the players in the league, he is susceptible to injury as well. It can happen on any given play.

May he heal and recover soon and return to play without further injury.

Only 16 so far this season, but we are also asking him to help carry the load on special teams and in blocking. He had what I'll call 212 significant snaps on offense last year (blocking snaps plus rush attempts plus targets), from his usage in the first two games we had him on pace for 323 significant snaps. Considering he didn't play as much in either game because we were so far ahead, the number would probably be higher if those games were closer.

At his age, asking him to increase his workload by 50%+ is a recipe for injury, even if he has been mostly healthy as a Saint up until now.
That’s not a lot…. I love Taysom but he is not a durable player and never has been ranging all the way back to college.

Everyone loves Hill so let’s just put that away now…. Taysom may have played in a lot of games but his usage has always been very low, so playing in a game with 6 carries is hardly an example of durability.

Hill is a tough SOB who, unfortunately, is susceptible to injury.

Taysom has played 10 quarters. During those quarters the offense has been unstoppable. Is Kubiak relying too much on one player?
I think it's less relying on him and just the nature of Taysom as a weapon and what he brings to the offense. You can go 21 or 12 personnel and the defense still has to match up like it's 11. He plays multiple distinctive roles on offense. He is strong blocker at the POA and is dynamic with the ball in his hands. He has the size and speed to present matchup issues out wide.

Oh... and he can throw the ball as well as a starting QB.

Just having him on the field gives the offense some juice, and he is a great situational weapon (3rd down, short yardage, red zone). That's in large part why the offense is so productive with him out there.

All that to say it's not that Kubiak is "relying" on him in terms of changing the scheme or even the way he calls plays with Taysom out there. It's more the natural stress it puts on the defense with his presence.

Not a far-fetched proposition considering that 4 weeks in Taysom has already missed a game and a half (and likely more now) and Kamara is the walking wounded.

Going to be tough if we can’t find other contributors to carry some of the load.
Taysom's game is play to contact and run people over--so hard to maintain that physicality over a brutal NFL season unless your a freak like Derrick Henry and he has been hurt at times. He is one of the key straws that stirs this offense.

That's part of the Shannahan offense, though. You almost never see 4-5 wide. It's a lot of base, two WRs, two RBs, and not a lot of rotating players.
Yes!

And that's why we need 2 effective RBs and 2 TEs that can catch the ball and get a little RAC.
