Announcement Taysom Hill out for the season with torn ACL-additional damage per Rapoport [Hill placed on Injured Reserve on 12/6] (7 Viewers)

It's going to be real hard for him to come back to the guy he was with that much damage to his knee at 35 years old. If he was a pocket passing QB, sure. But with the things he does it's going to be tough. If that is the end for him he'll be in my top all time exciting Saints players for sure.

It's the reason why the high low stuff is a no no for o line. def. Major injury risk. Mid 30s doesn't scream speedy recovery but this case seems a bit unique.

Is there anyone in college right now that could be used like Taysom Hill? Think about character and morals, that Taysom clearly had.

#14 should be suspended for the rest of the season and until Taysom is able to return to the football field.

If the NFL is serious about "taking care of their players' health" they would put rules in that have teeth like what I just described. If a player's livelihood depends on playing clean, he won't take cheap shots to try to injure players. There's no other way to stop it.

I think he could come back from the ACL, although not guaranteed, but there is supposed to be other damage to the knee as well. Depending on what kind of damage that is, it could change his outlook.

Insane the Injuries he has come back from, especially if you recall his multiple season ending knee and leg injuries at BYU.

I could see Taysom fighting back and returning but I think his wife will convince him to retire. He's got a unique NFL legacy, with us and certainly around the league. The next guys who do it like he did will be referred to as the next Taysom Hill.

New problem... Salary cap. Those of you who know the nuances of the cap, I'm curious. Taysom's 2025 numbers:

2025 Cap Hit: $18M
2025 Dead Money pre-June 1 cut: $18M
2025 Dead Money post-June 1 cut: $8M ($10M "savings" with the elimination of the cap hit.)

Mickey has really created rocks and hard places with the injury to this latest high-priced vet. Not sure how an injury settlement with a vested vet works or it is even relevant.

It seems like you have to cut Taysom post-June 1 to get the cap savings, but still have Taysom's $17M on the roster and cap between March and June. I see a post June 1 cut, then we'll add Taysom to the dead money pile:

Latt $31M
MT $9.2M
Jameis $7.3M
Taysom $9.1M

I think Taysom's Saints career is over, for both health and business reasons.

Hail the hero, even if you see him back running at next mini-camp.

The only thing that can stop Taysom is Taysom. He heals fast, is endlessly positive, and is tough as hell. It's up to him whether or not it's a career-ender, because on the face of it, he's not a normal 34yo.
