did I miss his blocked punt on special teams and he may be the only QB to block a punt.Taysom Hill was signed by the Green Bay Packers as a 27 year old rookie undrafted free agent QB out of BYU in 2017. Hill was not invited to attend the NFL combine due to his age and oft injured college career. At his Pro Day at BYU Hill measured in at 6' 2" tall and weighed in at 230 pounds. He ran a 4.44 forty yard dash, blistering for a man of his build. The Packers waived him on the final cut down and the New Orleans Saints claimed him off of waivers and added him to the practice squad. Hill was promoted to the active roster later that year on December 3rd, 2017. He only appeared in games that year on special teams. Hill has since played multiple positions on special teams as listed below. On offense he has played every position except offensive lineman. He has lined up as QB, FB, RB, TE, and WR. As a WR and as a TE he has lined up in the slot, out wide, in tight, and has been put in motion prior to the snap. He has been used as a blocker and not only is he willing but he has been effective doing so. He has been used as a Wildcat QB. He has started as a traditional QB as well where he has been both a threat to pass or run.
Hill entered only his 7th year in the league in 2023 at the age of 33 years old. The Saints now list his weight at 221 pounds.
Hills total stats to date in the following categories are 2265 passing yards, 1837 rushing yards, 465 receiving yards, and 429 return yards. He has thrown 10 TD passes, rushed for 21 TDs, and has 9 receiving TDs (11 including the playoffs).

It has been discussed by many on this site with the majority concluding that Taysom Hill is NOT an NFL QB. Not one of starting caliber, not a 2nd string QB that you can win with long term should the starter get injured and be unavailable to play for an extended amount of games, but only as a 3rd stringer, someone to fill in for spot duty for a limited amount of time. Just a gadget player.
I disagree with that so I'm in the minority of members here on this site. I don't believe that there are 32 starting QBs in the NFL today that are better than Hill and certainly not 64 (including 2nd stringers) that would give a team a better chance of winning. Career numbers including a passer rating of 88.8, a 64.6% completion rate, 7.9 yards per pass attempt, and a 80% winning rate as a starting QB, combined with a career rushing average of 5.6 yards per carry add up to winning football in the NFL.

He had less fumbles the less touches he had. Most of the fumbles were happening when used more. Proof is in the pudding my friend. That was also when he had his INT spike. More proof that as a starting QB, his negative stats outweighs the positive. Now talk about his eyes.
Does anyone know how many fumbles Taysom has had in the last two years? Perhaps he has cleaned that up.
The only comparable player I can think of is Jim Jensen, who played QB, TE, and special teams for the Dolphins. There's no evidence he ever blocked a punt, but he did complete a TD pass and caught Marino's 200th TD pass. Taysom Hill has amassed a unique record of versatility and accomplishment.did I miss his blocked punt on special teams and he may be the only QB to block a pu
dude is super gifted, I wonder if he could be considered a prodigy?Taysom Hill is not afraid of the dark. The dark is afraid of Taysom Hill.
Who cares? We don't use him as a starting QB, so it doesn't matter if he sucks as one or not, we're not using him like that. I bet Kamara sucks as a QB too, but we won't use him as one, so it doesn't matter.

Who are you arguing with? Nobody thinks this or argues for what you're addressing. How dare you!?
He's overpaid, underused & should be traded! Sure.
No one else in the NFL modern era has been as an effective COMPLETE player!

SARCASM!Who are you arguing with? Nobody thinks this or argues for what you're addressing.
It, like nearly all things on the forum, went away as a topic and nobody has brought it up for at least three quarters of a year.SARCASM!
Have you not seen the dozens of posts whining about Hill's contract, lack of ability as a QB or calls for trading him?
It's been a hot topic since he signed his last contract.
