Taysom Hill vs Christian McCaffrey athleticism (1 Viewer)

Shannon Sharpe is the TE that comes to mind who was 6'2 220-230 range

Not saying hill is Shannon, but if he's got some hands...give him the JG sluggo seam route and see how it works out.

There's so much intrigue surrounding Hill and how he might be used in the future. If he does eventually end up playing as our QB, how many other NFL QBs can say they got their start on a team playing coverage on special teams? This in itself is a genuine indication of his athleticism.

And if he can come anywhere near having Brees' skill set for running an offense (which includes reading defenses) and pinpointing receivers, he could possibly become the real McCoy for us down the road.

Most of the videos I've seen of Hill at QB (for Green Bay) shows him scrambling out of the pocket for good yardage. (One was a scramble for a TD.) I found one TD pass clip where he showed a very quick release with lots of zip on it. While it would be nice to have a QB with some wheels, I'm not sure if Payton would ever be comfortable with a 'happy feet' type of QB. I hope we get to watch him take some snaps in the preseason next year to see what he may be able to bring to the table.

What do we have to lose? We're short on TE's and this kid has shown he'll do anything to get on the field with his special teams play. We didn't sign him to the 53 for ***** and giggles. Wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see Payton use Hill (Taysom - obviously not Josh) in some kind of "Ambush" type scenario where we need something never really seen before in such a meaningful game (any playoff game, for this case...) to steal a score or flip field positioning in a hurry.

I wouldn't put anything past Payton in the playoffs. I'm definitely expecting some trickery. Can't wait!

There is no way that Sean keeps Taysom out of the game. He's going to find a way onto the field. He started creeping in to Special Teams... Made a name for himself there, finally lined up as a WR against the Falcons... it's only a matter of time now.

I don't fully expect it against the Bucs but don't be shocked if we see TayTay get some looks in the playoffs.

I wouldn't play him at TE, but I could easily see a wild cat package or handing him the ball on a jet sweep with a RPO. Payton's loves to give teams extra looks to think about. I don't think letting Hill handle the ball a few times a game is a bad idea. Give playoff defenses something completely new to defend.

Why would you ever take the ball out of Drew's hands???????? I get the "cuteness" of the thought, but you have the GOAT, why do it?

:hihi:

I think SP will work Taysom in the offense soon. Its always a random player come into the picture doing the playoffs.

In order to minimize game tape. That's why I don't see him doing too much against Tampa Bay. Look for Taysom in the playoffs though.

he is ripped or what? Freakin wow!

And Bobad - I took your remark about he's a better passer as humor. I got a good laugh because if he is the replacement for Brees, he better be able to throw better than an RB and throw well

Yeah, tongue-in-cheek. I was reminding everyone that he IS after all a QB, not a RB. Funny he was compared to CMC.

Taysom is one of those guys who are just downright football players and “gamers”. They go out and do their damn job
