It’s been a subjective trade rumors all summer. There were some Bill Belichick pseudo tampering discussion, and a recent Eagles fan site article here

If Philly is in a rebuild, and it looks like they won’t be very good, They may very well trade his contract and try to get some long-term value.

Vannett (from the sound of it) was already drawing the wrong kind of attention from CSP… who reportedly said that they “needed to see more out of him.”
Vannett is known as primarily a blocking TE, but maybe he just hasn’t been blocking too well, and has shown to be even less of a receiving threat than they thought.

It doesn’t sound like Trautman is hurt too bad, so that’s good… but the Saints could still try to upgrade over (the now hurt) Vannett.

My hope is that they pick up the phone and call the Dolphins… and see if they would part with Adam Shaheen for a late round draft pick. Shaheen has great size and he has more receiving ability than Vannett.

A couple other TEs that could also be worth checking on IMO would be Ross Dwelley from the 49ers and/or the Patriots’ Devin Asiasi.

Read an article this morning (don't have to post) where they anticipated a 4th round 2022 pick from the Saint's to make it happen. It was an opinion piece.

Who would be the blocking TE? That was Vannett. If I had to guess the Saints will sign a blocking TE after the final cut downs. There should be one available then. Because the of the good news on Trautman I doubt they trade for anyone.
