Thank you Cam Jordan! (2 Viewers)

Cam has a few advantages over other players when it comes to getting the HOF nod: he's been considered one of the best run-stopping DEs in the NFL since he was drafted. Most guys with his sack numbers are specialists and disappear versus the run. He also has a ton of batted passes over his career. And finally, he was on the NFL All-Decade team, which is one of the biggest indicators for HOF likelihood.

First off it was a ignorant deal to sign him to. 2 yrs and $26 mil. But since they made this bad decision, he has a Post June 1st dead money of $9 mil and cap savings of $11 mil. Then dead money for 3 more years after. An extension would make it worse. Base salary next year of 12.5 mil. I love what Cam has meant for the Saints, but please don't give this man any more money. Cut him as a Post June 1 and be gone. Only way to start fixing the problem and quit giving guys that are past their prime more money.

I remember an interview with CSP where he talked about having to explain to his son (who had told everyone he knew that the Saints were taking Ingram with their #1 pick) why they picked Cam, and he said, "But son, this is a special player."
Of course, Saints ended trading back into the bottom of the first round to get Ingram later in the day, but CSP gave an absolute spot on assessment. Cam was and has been a special player. He should be in the HoF as far as I'm concerned. Someone mentioned JJ Watt, taken earlier in the same draft. Cam outlasted him by several years, and while Watt may have been a better sack artist at his peak, I would argue that overall, they are on an equal level because Cam was always slightly better against the run than JJ. It's splitting hairs to say that, but to my eyes, it was true. Both have been phenomenal NFL players and both deserve to be in the Hall.

I will miss Cam a lot when he leaves, whether it's after this season or whenever, and so will the team.

Cam has been an absolute Ironman on the field during his career. Not that many missed games due to injury, like so many who'd fallen down around him during his Saints career. That's what I'll remember most about him if yesterday was his last game in N.O., is the durability. His sack totals put him right there in range, but indeed he's going to be one of those guys who has to wait at least 10 years after he becomes eligible. Main reason: no titles. Thanks, Vinovich!
