That Last game vs Atlanta may determine the division/playoffs (1 Viewer)

Wanted an update on the Saints head-to-head standings with their division rivals.
Thought I'd share the info.
Didn't want to create a thread for it.
I'm a sensitive soul.
Figured this thread was as good a place as any to post the chart.

I can see it now. The Packers beat the Bucs, the Falcons choke to the Panthers and the Saints find a way to lose to the lol Giants.
Nick Underhill said it perfectly in the NewOrleans.Football post-game podcast.

"Winning the division this year is like getting the last slice of a three-day old pizza."

If you haven't eaten in 3 days that three-day old pizza might just taste great.

The Saints haven't been to the playoffs in 3 years. The taste of the playoffs might just taste great, especially for young players who haven't had a taste of it yet.

More than likely, yes. This has still been a gawd-awful division all year, though. DA is luckier than an outhouse rat he’s in such a bad division.
And for YEARS bellicheats's patriots were average to decent in the worst overall division in the league, and the talking heads tout him as the "GOAT"...

If DA can find a way to win the division, it may go a long way to debunk some of the brady/bellicheat mystique.

I eat three-day-old pizza all the time. You have to keep it refrigerated.

Would be par for the NFC South course. They say they want to win the division but none of the teams are acting like it.
I get it - whoever wins the South is going to have to work doggone hard to not get embarrassed on Wild Card weekend. Suck it up, take the division, and do what you can, punks.

I honestly currently have the last game as meaningless. But, let's say TB beats GB and we beat the Rams it could mean TB for the division and us taking the 7th seed for a WC spot. This is all based off of the NFL Playoff Predictor on ESPN. Here is that I think happens

TB loses against @gb and Jax but beats NO and Car

Atlanta loses against Indy, @Chicago, and New Orleans but beats Car

Saints lose against LAR and TB but beat ATL and NYG

TB and New Orleans finish 8-9 and TB wins the division

I wouldn’t be shocked if the saints win the division and upsets someone in the wild card round. Any given Sunday and I’ve seen it happen to the saints when we played a 7 win team in the playoffs and lost. Lattimore,MT,Rasheed and a couple other reinforcements will be back. So I would not be surprised.
The only way the Saints can win a game in the post season is getting the 6th seed wild card spot and going to Detroit. We won't win there either, but it's our only chance. Winning the division as much as Dallas always chokes, they will beat us by 30

This is really good and I’m going to use it in my new book: “How to Effectively Steal Other People’s Ideas”.

:hihi:

It's not a 3 way tie... the Saints lost the head to head against the Bucs and the Clowns. So the Saints are 3rd. Just about every game of the last 4 could determine who wins the worst division in the NFL.
Actually, it's a three-way tie. That's why the whole head-to-head thing comes into consideration. Because it's what's referred to colloquially as a "tie breaker". 😉

I would.

If the Saints ended up winning the division (which I don't think they will, I think TB wins it), they'd be the 4th seed, which means they'll get to play the highest wild card, which means either the Eagles or Dallas: they are both 3 games ahead of anyone else not leading a division, so with 4 games left, the overwhelming odds says one of them is going to be the 5th seed.

Regardless of what happened 13 years ago, I have not seen anything in this 2023 Saints team that tells me they can beat the 2023 Eagles or the 2023 Cowboys. But I can see either the Eagles or the Cowboys coming into the Dome and embarrassing the Saints on national TV. And frankly, the way things are, I rather the Saints not go to the playoffs by virtue of being the best team in the worst division, and then get embarrassed at home on national TV.
You're absolutely correct. In fact, next year we should refuse to even play a game unless we're assured ahead of time of making it to at least the conference championship game.

But DA wasn’t the coach of any of those teams, THIS team is rudderless.
I doubt many Seahawks fans expected to beat the Saints in 2010 but they did. The last 10 games of the season the Seahawks went 3-7 and the Saints went 7-3.

Any. Given. Sunday (or Saturday)

If we are going to get cute like that, the W-L records may be the same, but once you apply the tie breaker, there is no longer a tie. See? It's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. No tie.
