Breaking! The 2023 saints undrafted free agent class (1 Viewer)

Looking at everyone's game tape that I could find I was most impressed by Orji and especially Anthony Johnson the CB from Virginia. Dude has long arms and good PFF grades. Also the Texas Tech running back - Wow! Reminds me of Christ Ivory. Man I wish we had more roster spots.

With Trautman gone, we have 67 players still under contract. The present 12 UDFAs we signed so far are new contracts totaling 79 under contracts. The 7 new draftees, who count against the roster, now make our roster up to 86 players. That should leave 4 more spots for other free agents.

The last of the Saints' free agents that have not signed with other teams are all 29 or over with the exception being DT Albert Huggins (25). PJ Williams and Chase Hansen may still have some tread on the tires. I guess we will have to wait and see how they fill the final 4 slots.

Imagine having a punter where you can fake it every time

And outrun most of the ST defense for a first down with that 4.39 speed on a fake.

Makes you wonder if we might have a brand new kicker and/or punter in Grupe & Barnett for a clean slate and Barnett’s versatility. They’ll have to really impress but you never know after the missed kicks we had. It’ll be interesting to see if they let Barnett punt in camp or even in games.

This is a thread for signings. You are always welcome to open a thread for the players you are looking forward to sign.

I’m thinking we should be able to add that Raiders TE to tour list. I think that’s the plan as soon as he can pass the physical. Rumor was they had a contract ready when the diagnosis came in.

Way to go, Loomis!

The Tulane LB can really plug up the middle.

I’ve watched the Texas Tech running back for years. He consistently finds a crease, gets right through the hole, and really pounds the D for a full sixty minutes.

The South Carolina State WR has impressive size, and the Davenport WR is really fast, too quick for many DBs; I hear.

The Central Michigan tight end is very slippery with the ball in his hands.

You can’t go wrong with an Arkansas-Pine Bluff tackle. We drafted Terron Armstead from there, and Willie Roaf was born-and-raised in Pine Bluff. Evans has won the Willie Roaf Award. He can really seal off the backside for Carr.

The Illinois center can really block up the A gap.

Jerron Cage, the Ohio State defensive tackle, gets right into the B gap quickly and it’s over for anybody trying to get through there.

Everybody can get in on supporting the Orji signing.

The Virginia cornerback, Johnson, looks to be a good size to me, but I’ve heard other people say he doesn’t measure up in some areas and that’s why he went undrafted.

The kicker and the punter will get a chance to compete; those positions are plug-and-play.

I think if healthy, Moreau might be on the plans, once the compensatory picks window is close.

Based on talent and age, Jesse James may be another option at the position.

Some of the UDFAs will be cut at the rookie minicamp and some of the tryout UDFAs will be signed to round out the roster.

Really depends on his treatment and recovery. Even if it’s just a small tumor, the removal takes a toll. Hopefully for his sake more than anything he can get through it quickly and be done with it. Not sure if he’s publicly said what the doctors are recommending for chemo and radiation timelines.
