The All Good Things Thread (1 Viewer)

Here's a good thing. This dog is being named after my nephew. First one I've heard of, but apparently he's had some babies named after him.

I wanted to "share" this from Face book but I can't do it directly from Leashes of Valor, so I copied and pasted from the friend's page where I saw it:

"Welcome to the Darkhorse Family, Leashes of Valor Donnelly! Donnelly will be raised to be a service Dog for a veteran. The Official Name announcement from LOV to come soon. This Boy is named after 1st Lieutenant William James Donnelly IV of Kilo Company 3/5 KIA November 25 2010. You have a lot of support behind you. (Note: I am not raising him one of Leashes of Valor’s Experienced puppy raisers will be raising him on the East Coast)"

How about a bump of this thread for Thankgiving? Kind of goes hand in hand, no?

Someone shared a post recently on Face book. I'll paraphrase. There is a very special young woman who really does her part to honor not only the Dark Horse 25 that my nephew is a part of but other fallen soldiers and the soldiers that returned but ultimately found civilian life impossible to return to. I have never met her but Willie's mom and sister have and we follow her closely. Every year she puts up a Tree of Heroes adorned with stars on which she's put the names of the soldiers.

Anyway, she posted a picture of this year's tree and explained how one star was missing from last year due to "shenanigans". I asked her to explain and, well, basically she blames one of the guys as the jokester who is responsible for the unexplained various "misplacement" of stars. And then she said, don't worry, it's never Willie. Willie behaves. I told her don't be too sure. This time 14 years ago, we were all gathered and after passing around the Crown Royal (his favorite) we shared our Willie stories. I told her our boy could be plenty mischievious.

That's why I don't like that picture of him. It's too serious. This is him ...
