Meta would go up if Zuckerberg would step down as the face of Meta/Facebook.

For someone so smart…I’m just stunned he doesn’t realize this. He probably has one of the most unnatural personalities in front of a camera.

It's too late for that. META's future is all in on the metaverse. They let Facebook start to look old and uncool to the younger generations and turning that around would be next to impossible. What I would do if I were them is pay the top 100 creators on TikTok to exclusively post of Facebook but once they do that it will open pandora's box for the social media companies and it's going to take some really heavyweight contracts to pull the top 20. Right now Social Media companies are like NFL franchises in the 30's. Sooner or later the players are going to realize that nobody is coming to watch Zuckerberg play and start demanding money. That is ultimately where social media will head.

I help out at my kid's school when they cant find a substitute, so I will take my work laptop and play a dual role. I had 9th grade last week and one of them mentioned their Facebook account, then they all started laughing and saying things like "Facebook, hahahahah", "You still have a Facebook account hahahaha", etc. The were all making fun of it, so yeah the Book of Faces is dead!

I agree on META. Another point made in those articles was that FB has a pretty dismal record against other offerings when they try to compete directly such as their failed tiktok app.

Given that recent record with direct competition and the lack of enthusiam for META, it doesn't look to promising for their future. All of that might change, but FB has a bad rep with young folks because it's a 'boomer' site from what I've read.

All while they're on Instagram, which is owned by Facebook....

Yep, but the IG model isn't nearly as profitable as FB since it is more brand collaboration than direct advertising. As bad as Facebook has been hurt by TikTok, IG is getting hit even harder because TikTok is taking from IG's main demographic. Facebook's problem is they never had that demographic to begin with and they have no way to replenish as the boomers get banned, join cults, die, etc.

The good news is they have been hit by Telegram, Truth Social, GAB, and all the other conspiracy sites and those are dying a rapid death so at least they have a grip on the 40+ demographic.

What about the Facebook marketplace? That still seems popular.

Marketplace and the Groups (Sales and Hobby groups) seem to be popular or at least more popular than the wall/newsfeed. I primarily use FB for selling/buying stuff and then the different fishing/gardening groups I am a member of.

Last sentence should read.... down the road Facebook's future is dead.
My wife and her friends and their friends and their family members.....millions of people cherish it.
Yes they will eventually grow old and die.
.....but for today....they cherish it.
My wife has photos of our daughter from infancy until our daughter's current age of 21.
Many people store all their photos IN Facebook.
It would be traumatic to such people if Facebook went out of business.

So you're saying we might have reached peak FB? I'm not mad about that.

Others were saying that. Their points seem valid. I know it is true that almost everyone age 29 or younger that I know...they are not interested in participating in Facebook.
So I'm saying that Facebook: 1)has an incredibly loyal customer base...and...2) that passionate customer base will age and Facebook's LONG term outlook seems grim. Unless they can find a way to make the younger generation use them.

I'd say FB was more millennial focused, since that's who was in college when it started.

But, I agree with your point. Maybe 30+, though.
