The Man that can fill in for AK41 during his looming "vacation" and beyond - DEVON ACHANE RB TEXAS A&M 2nd RD pick 40 overall (3 Viewers)

I disagree, if AK misses 6 games when he comes back Achane is gonna sit. We need a 1st and 2nd down back to move the chains like Charbonnet or if we get lucky Robinson. I'd even take a guy that's a bit of both Gibbs. That way when AK comes back we don't over use him and keep him fresh.

2 underrated RB's I'd love us to sign. Alexander Mattison and D'Ernest Johnson. Both are young with limited wear and tear but I think can be very good if given the chance. Both should come pretty cheap too.

I'd love to see Gibbs early, even at 29, and DeWayne McBride in the fifth round, with a DT at 40 with an OL, S or TE in the third and BPAs among OL, S, TE and WR with the rest of the draft. Gibbs can be another AK41 and take some of the pressure off Kamara (and we still don't know what his future will look like) while McBride is a move-the-chains punisher we need. If Gibbs is gone, I also wouldn't mind seeing Spears in the third, moving a DT up to second round with McBride in the fifth. Charbonet is another RB I like, too.

We need one of those too... but they are easier to find in FA than a home run hitting, matchup nightmare'n, first down getting, LBer killing... young playmaker.
No doubt. Ideally we have a bruiser and Achane. That contrast in running styles can be davastating. Defense has been working their tale off to bring down a physical runner and all of the sudden the fastest guy on the field comes in and they have to figure out how to stop him. And I fully expect Achane to be the fastest guy on the field in most games. Maybe not in terms of his 40 time (which is really fast) but in terms of his game speed. He had so many runs where he wasn't even touched for 20 yards because defenders simply could not get to him.

Obviously the NFL hash marks and NFL defensive speed will slow him down a bit but maybe not much. There has never been more space on a NFL field and speed is king. Just have to get creative on how to use a weapon like Achane. The easiest way to use him as a rookie is to run clear outs and then dump it off to him for an easy first down and maybe a lot more. Defenses have to respect his speed so maybe they creep up on him coming out of the backfield, boom deep ball over the top to Olave or Shaeed. We're a few players away to having an uncoverable amount of speed on the field at all times.

This year is just unreal with the amount of guys that will more than likely contribute early to teams. Robinson is the clear lead, but guys like Chardonnet, Gibbs, Bigsby, Achane, Johnson , Spears, McIntosh. I'm sure I'm missing some but the class is stacked. I really like Rochon Johnson. He was behind Bijan but anywhere else he's starting. Him and Tajae would be a lethal combination. There is going to be some very good backs that come out of this draft in the mid to late rounds and even UDFA's.
I'd rather have Achane than any other back in this draft.
