The Saints Season Ends on the evening of Jan 5th 2025 (1 Viewer)

The only other Team I have any love for outside of Football is the Cubs. I don't really like to watch baseball on T.V. but if nothing else is on I will watch a Cubs game. Don't care at all about basketball, hockey, soccer, etc.

I'll just be waiting until the draft and spring training.

So where will your sporting interest turn after the game clock strikes 0:00 at Raymond James Stadium?
I'm not talking about some casual enjoyment or following, but a genuine emotional fan attachment that falls into your 'must watch' sports category. I have to admit that until LSU baseball kicks off in February, I've got nothing..

Maybe I'll finally get some chores done around the house. So, what you got???
I'll follow the NFL playoffs and be pulling for Detroit and Buffalo. If by some miracle the Bengals get in I'll follow Joe and Jamaar. LSU Basketball will be maybe okay until conference play starts. LSU Baseball is fun in May/June but mostly following the B&G off season. Baseball has become boring since my team sucks (Angels). About time I'm over sports it will be spring training again.

Bass fishing! The spawn is right around the corner and winter fishing usually leads to be some big gals!

Yeah same here, now that you mention it…I do watch all of the NFL playoff games, and tend to gravitate to becoming a fan of the “Lovable Loser” type franchises that suddenly find themselves in the thick of things, like the Bengals, Bills, Lions, and Texans.

Guess it’s kind of a psychological way of my Saints fanhood living vicariously through other teams for a few short weeks before the off-season truly kicks off.

I’ve treated the significant majority of Saints games as practice games the past three seasons. I highly doubt it’s any better next year. My apathy is the highest it’s been since, well…I don’t even remember. Mora came around when I was relatively young, so I’d say that this is probably the lowest point in the franchise during my life. We’ve had worse teams, but there was at least something to look forward to. At the end of Haslett we got Payton, Brees, and the #2 overall pick. Now, we’re stuck with Carr, a bunch of depreciating assets on inescapable contracts, and a pick barely within the top 10. My hope is that we finally stop extending these players…get rid of the dead cap, get rid of the vets…and just get through the 2025 season
I've been trying to understand why I feel exactly like you do. I have been watching the Saints for over 40 years and this is the most apathetic I can ever recall feeling about them. Even my father who has watched the Saints literally from their FIRST ever game said that for the FIRST time in his life, he turned off a Saints game before it was actually over. Two weeks ago during the shoutout, he switched the channel when it was 21-0. This was a monumental statement as my father and I had previously discussed how we always watch every second of a Saints game regardless of the outcome because that's how deep our passion for them goes. My brother also switched off. I am home in NOLA for the holidays and the Saints game was on and I was busy doing other things with the game on in the background, only tuning in mentally every now and then to catch a Saints penalty or some other gaffe, getting disappointed and tuning out again.

Yes, I know we have had miserable times before. Every Saints fan knows that. But something about this feels differently than any other Saints stretch. I can't put my finger on it but my feelings range from apathy to disgust. Lol

While I'm sure that the reasons for the 'interest ebb' can vary with each person, some of the main ones could be that the product no longer delivers a sense of pride & joy that we've come to expect. It may even produce feelings of disgrace & misery for those fans who rely on the games to bring them pleasure.

In the past, the phrase 'Wait 'Til Next Year' was an expression of hope that reminded us of our personal reasons for attaching ourselves emotionally to the team in the first place. For many it was a lot like the old 'Gotta Have Faith' TV commercial...

Everyone just wanted to be 'in that number' when it finally happened here.

Well, it happened... and it was spectacular! But after waiting 15 years for Part Two it starts getting easier to wonder how important a second ring & trophy really is. In the twilight of Drew Brees' career there was a lot of talk about the 'window closing' on our dominance and our chances to repeat. Before we knew it both Drew & Sean were out of the picture, and the motivating curiosity was whether the Saints could find glory with others who would replace these main cogs in our success.

That curiosity quickly faded when no combination of players or coaches could move the team in the right direction. And now the attempts to sell the fans on the future prospects for success are starting to fall on deaf ears. Rather than believe that things will definitely improve, the consensus has been to ask, 'why do I want to go back into that waiting room?'

The more complicated our lives get, the more our priorities change. With the hope of real competitiveness being as low as it currently is, few fans see a reason to put the Saints nearly as high on that list as they once did. They know the emotional and monetary investments are high and the returns are far from immediate. And Saints fans also already have a memory that can never be taken away. However, in the recesses of the hearts & minds of every fan lies the 'gimme one reason' trigger that will light the fuse of hope and anticipation once again. And that spark could happen sooner than we may think.

My fandom goes into hibernation until September. Don't follow any team like I do the Saints. I'll casually catch the Orioles but they are heartbreakers as well. Used to be a NASCAR fan but not anymore.

I take a break, play music, do whatever........

27 goals away ... doubtful he gets that this season but always possible.

Not to mention the Caps are legit again ...

For me, it'll be the rest of the college football playoffs, then hockey, then maybe a little college hoops if LSU's men or women show something as their seasons progress.

Same here. Went into the game not expecting much, literally turned it off, put a movie on and rolled over to sleep once it was 14-0 and GB was driving.

Guess it was just a silent protest on my part, and there have certainly been times where I’d abstain from watching altogether near the end of a putrid season rather than rooting for us to lose for draft reasons, but I absolutely have never done the “Plan to watch and root for us then turn the game off early and watch something else/go to bed” thing.
