"The Steel Curtain of the 70s should be called the Steroid Curtain. And not like they did anything wrong. They were the 1st to embrace Steroids when it was totally legal. It was mainly their defensive front 7 and OL. They were legitimately superior athletes, bigger, stronger and faster than the other teams because of the roids."

Every summer, these Steelers would meet in San Marcos TX, back then a tiny town 30 miles from Austin at the time, a small Class 2 University to plan their program for the year. Back then, there was not the body of scientific knowledge on optimal Roids usage. So they would share with each other and set the next year plan. They had 2 trainers and 1 Doctor involved.

The Steelers did this in hiding. Getting caught was not an issue because they were not breaking any rules or laws back then. They wanted to hide their major competitive advantage.

The Cowboys found out and started their very limited at the time Roid program about 5-years later. Eventually Roids became more and more prevalent in the league. And we know the rest. I know one of the trainers.

Everyone was on steroids in the 70's.

... and the 80's
... and the 90's
... even today.

Wow was wondering when this report would come out as I had a little insider info about it previously. Glad to be on the inside like this.

Chris - Having watched the Steel Curtain and their physical domination, then the Cowgirls, I thought it was quite interesting. But I can see where others may not. It's all good. We are going to the SB this year :9:

In the late 70s, I was the painter at Continental Cars on St Charles, the Mercedes dealership. One day, Mel Blount came by to get his Mercedes coup fixed. His 10 year old soon got mad at him and he took an ax to the hard top roof about a dozen times. That was the 1st time I saw a professional NFL player up close. That CB was a big boy and he was like chiseled muscle. BTW: He thought what his kid did was funny. The story had a good ending.

Haha - When one gets an inside source, do they give away a link to their twitter account? Seriously?

And the tip I got about Calvin Johnson and the Saints may have had some viability. It was reported I think on Rotoworld yesterday evening that the Pats are in talks with the Lions about Johnson.

My source on the Saints getting Johnson tip told me yesterday afternoon that it was not going to happen with the Saints and Johnson was not coming out of retirement, so I deleted the whole thread. I guess too early, but I don't want to play with Who Dats emotions on something that big if the source he gave me the tip that the Saints were getting Johnson then calls and says, "No it aint happening."

which is why you dont post anything until the source validates and says ok its cool to report it.

us kicking the tires isnt the same as we bringing him out of retirement.

and truth be told, you posted your thread well after an initial thread went 20 pages on the same topic ( based off sources ). so it looks a wee desperate for the "lead".

Shocking to me that professional athletes used steroids. I’m floored. I’m so glad resting now means the NFL is completely clean and no steroids are being used.

Well. I guess this would explain why they were so dominant. Makes sense. The teams that discover new ways to cheat or gain some sort of shady upper hand usually have a lot of success. Look at the Bash Brothers Oakland A's. Those guys looked like a football team because the roids were flowing freely.

PEDs are never going away. Players will always be looking for some type of edge. I look around at some of the teams in the NFL and they have a bunch of freakish players. Makes me wonder if they have a program in place. Like those 49ers teams under Harbaugh. Those were some of the most physically freakish defenses I have ever seen. Even their DBs were big and ripped.
