The switch to a 3-4 defense (13 Viewers)

Absoolutely perfect fit for a 3-4 or 4-3 SAM honestly.
4-3 SLBs are on the field for like 15% of the snaps. Regardless of how we line up, if we draft someone like Walker at #9, he needs to be the 4th guy rushing off the edge almost every play. If not, it's a waste of a pick.

Three words. Draft Mike Green

We already have the personnel on the d line. Cam and Bresee are better suited to 3-4 DE. Bresee can use his quickness and army of block shedding moves to greater effect there. Cam is still a beast against the run. Also this draft is strong with 0 techs we could get later and we have a couple decent options already on the team.

This is the guy.

It's going to be a multi-year process to transform this defense into a workable 3-4 alignment.

They must get a space-eater NT in the draft, that's the foundation of a 3-4.

When I said he could also be productive as a Sam in a 4-3 I meant he could play Sam in the base and is so good he could kick down to edge in the nickel. It’s very rare for a player to have that kind of range. I forgot the last player to do that was. I think Von Miller did it his rookie year and also Kyle van noy

If we stayed in a 4-3 Walker works out, Cam could play end in the base then off the field in the nickel with Walker at edge. If we went 3-4, Walker SOLB in base then edge in the nickel.

guys, gotta trade down, get a DE and a NT or OT then do it again in 2nd round. Have to minimize the chance that a miss on one guy will kill the team. Get lots of assets.
