I don't know how you can blame the defense for that. They were 1/3 of our offense. Plus the offense kept them on a short field the entire day with picks and that blocked punt.

There's plenty of blame to go around for this debacle against the rams. Yes, our offense blew it, in particular our offensive line...but this doesn't mean our defense played well by any means.

This team has bigger problems than offense/defense stuff. They have mental problems.

I know what high people look like, and Sean Payton looks like he's high on pain meds. Understandable, but he's got to keep his laxness from filtering down.

The only way they lose to the Rams is if they completely don't prepare properly and aren't mentally into it.

aren't mentally into it.

when they showed the sideline with about 12 minutes left, they all just looked like they were already done playing the game and ready to go home

and then they get the ball back and lolly-gag around on offense....where was that two minute offense that Brees ran against the Texans??

My problem is, the offensive line coach for the Eagles, 70 year old Howard Mudd, had ******* hip replacement 2 weeks ago and he is on the sideline coaching them up. Yet, Payton is living it up in the press box, eating chili dogs, after an MCL surgery.

A team's mentality starts with their coach. Payton needs to pop a few Midol and get in the game.

i don't think he is allowed to be on the sideline with an injury like that

i heard someone mention that Peyton Manning was only recently cleared to be on the sideline during a game

If Mudd was allowed, I think Payton would be too.

Injury explanation

Payton is not expected to be able to put weight on his injured leg for about eight weeks, said Dr. Deryk Jones, the team's orthopedic surgeon who operated on the coach. Jones added that a full recovery could take three to six months.

If I had the kind of injury and surgery that Payton had, I would still be laying on my couch playing video games every day while I *****ed at my wife to bring me more pain meds.

they should put an iPad on a mannequin and one in the booth....then have someone wheel the mannequin around the sideline so he can yell at players

Payton had more than a MCL tear. He also broke the bone in his knee.

As far as Mudd, I didn't notice him. Was he actually standing on the sideline or was he sitting on the bench? If he was on the bench because he had to be there, I can see why Payton would rather be in the press box where he can see and give input rather than sitting on the bench where he can't see anything.

At any rate, regardless of if Payton was on the sideline or not, that was not going to change the fact that we got a punt blocked and that Charles Brown just let Chris Long run by him on nearly every play. That's what cost us the game, not Payton being in the press box and not a lack of fire or desire. Sure, the entire team played lack luster, but if Brown even plays a decent game and we don't have the punt blocked, we win easily. And, no amount of desire or the presence of Payton on the side line is going to make Charles Brown block better or stop Amaya from getting run over. I really think people are over thinking this. It's about a lack of blocking and it really doesn't go any deeper than that.

I know about his injury.

Well, apparently not enough because with a hip replacement, they want you up, moving around and putting weight on it right away. That's not the case with Payton's surgery and it's probably the reason he can't be on the sideline.

I like pain meds when I can sit around on the couch and play video games. The side effects make me a little uncomfortable.
