yes, he's suspended from coaching, facilities, games, etc...but he is not barred from keepin personal relationships and friendships, with people from the organization, privately...

thus my point. S.P. will be folliwing the team closley, like you and I, from television, etc...yet, there is nothing preventing any coach, asst. coach or players from contacting S.P., via personal contact and U.S. Mail, as opposed to texting, emails, phone calls, etc, all could be monitored...

dont think for a second, as season starts, games are played and planned weekly, Drew wont hesitate to contact Sean on the side, and ask for input, pkaycalls, strategy from past experiences, etc...on the side, etc, and go from there....theres no stopping it and its legal.

Carmichael, Spags, Drew, whoever, will be in contact at least weekly with Sean Payton simply for input and advice and thoughts as the season progresses...

can't stop it...yes, physically, contractuallu, he is suspended..but he can have lunch, golf, send correspondence, etc...and nothing could prevent S.P. from speaking as friends, with his coaching staff...becauase everyone on that team in 2012 have S.P's back and will play their hearts out for him more than anything else.

2012 will be unusally diiferent, exciting, and we're going to see the most intense nfl team, pkaying lights out to shut up any and all crticism coming their way....evetyone is ecpecting Saints to be like 2011 Colts and fall on their faces, and analysts will be waiting for lisses to start piling up, yet when Saints continue to win, make it look effortless, everyone will be gunning for them to fail....but they wont.

Remember: PT, Sproles, Moore, Ingraham, Graham, Colston and Henderson...undefeated in the Dome..healthy and focused...Saints will be fine guys..

His contact with the team will be severely limited, or else Goodell will add to his suspension if he disobeys it.

Unless we sue and get the suspensions postponed.

Nobody's suing anybody. And if Payton violates his suspension in any way, Benson will have to fire him. I hope that doesn't happen - stay away, Sean, we need you next year.

That would be skating on already thin ice. Sure like you say, he should be able to keep his personal relationships, but then you say while having these personal conversations, he should discuss strategy or decision making with Brees or the assistant coaches. That is breaking the rule because even though the conversation is allegedly "personal" they are actually discussing things dealing with the Saints organization.

Gregg Williams could conceivably do that with the Rams, as his son is on the staff. You have to have a clear, prior relationship with a person for it to be labeled personal. Payton does not have that with any member of the organization, IIRC.

Payton's value is in coaching the team on game day. He will not be permitted to contact anyone associated with the team at all during game day I'm sure.

Furthermore why would he want to if he's not being compensated?

I don't think anyone needs our help here.

Usually during suspensions, players, coaches, etc are banned from the facility and any contact with the organization.

Payton will effectively be unable to do anything for the Saints this year starting April 1st, unless he wins an appeal from the very man who crucified him.

I assume from your thread title that you don't actually believe that would be a practical course of action. As others have implied, the reason he's in trouble to begin with is because he thumbed his nose at Goodell.

I had to chuckle at that bit in the bold. He sees something on the televised game on Sunday, puts his thoughts in a letter, mails it on Monday, the team gets it on Thursday...

Remember he is not getting paid to coach at all. Other than a few insights and recommendations, we have lost him and his mind for the season.
