This could be Alvin's last year as a Saint and it would be a massive mistake by Allen (1 Viewer)

There might not be a more conditioned 30 year old athlete in the world than Alvin.

We don't have to search the world over for that guy.

Not taking anything away from Alvin but we just saw several articles and tweets about another Saints player who is the most exceptional conditioned athlete Saints Sports Science Director Dr. Matt Rhea said he's ever seen, and doubts he'll ever see another one like him.

You probably know the guy. Ironically, he's 4 years older than Alvin.

Last year, when the storm was brewing around Carmichael's playcalling, Allen mostly refrained from throwing Carmichael under the bus. There were a ton of rumblings coming from players during media interviews, but no one was more outspoken or as honest as Alvin. It wasn't nearly as bad as Michael Thomas, but Alvin didn't handle it like some of the other players. It was in that moment that I realized he didn't fit Allens new culture and I feel like the guys Allen is for, got their contracts adjusted already. I feel like Alvin hasn't been signed because Allen isn't pushing for this to be something that gets done and pronto.

I could be wrong but I sense that Alvin is a remnant from Payton's previous culture that Allen would like to move on from. It also explains why Allen is so frustrated with Kendre, because Kendre is Allen's excuse to move on in a year.
Nobody should be pushing for a near 30 year old running back rushing sub-4 YPC.

AK is saying he's not asking for crazy $ , but what is not crazy $ to him? The Saints have an offer on the table, apparently it's not enough for him. To offer him more than 2yrs @ 7-8 mill 12-13 guaranteed is a bad move, especially with this system is all about making avg RBs into stars

I have two keepers in my league, got stroud and AK I was on the fence between him and kittle, but I believe in this new offensive scheme in a big way. And I ended up drafting kittle again anyways lol. Oh and a guy named Hill for that flex spot
I can see your future...no playoffs. TE is barren. You wasted 2 picks on a worthless position when you could've just run TH there for a 15th round pick.

So if Alvin has a monster year, maybe even earns MVP honors, then what do you do? Let him walk? I don't think so.
Yep, let him walk if not on a team friendly contract. He’ll want way too much for an old RB

I think it’s less than that. I can’t see why he would get more than Aaron Jones or Derrick Henry. Those guys got 1 year 7mil
and 2 years 16 mil.

I don't, he is a better more dynamic RB than both of those guys, with a lot less wear and tear....

The first two games this season should be enough evidence that 29-yr old AK41 has a lot of tread left on the tires. 🛞

Hoping Mrs. Benson opens her checkbook! 💰 💵

:gosaints:
I thought it was obvious, if you look at Alvin run last few years or atleast read enough articles you'd know he was getting hit within 1 yd of the LOS. That's tough for any RB to be his best. Now he's getting 3.5 yards beyond the LOS before getting touch and voila he looks like Alvin. Truth was when you look at him his explosiveness has never changed. Maybe some top end speed w/ age, but top end speed isn't what made him great. that was contact balance, and that hasn't changed.
