NFL Draft This is not a historically good draft. Don’t be upset if we draft Jaxson Dart high. (56 Viewers)

I’m revisiting the Dart possibility after giving up on him earlier. I’m not saying that he’s worth pick 9 or pick 40 even. What I am saying is that the player we would have missed out on will not likely be a huge impact player.

We are the least likely team to even draft a QB that high, historically. So get excited that the team took the chance on a guy they like. Payton started with Brees, Loomis is trying to recreate that with Moore, and bring in a QB to start the Kellen Moore era.

It’s in the numbers. Pick 9 DB wore 9. We only ever drafted a QB from Ole Miss in the common draft.

Dart can sit behind Carr for one season after taking over. He’ll probably play because Carr has been getting hurt every season.

Last year we knew we needed a tackle and we drafted Fuaga, my favorite. The year before we knew we needed D interior and knew if Bresee fell we’d pick him.

The year before that we knew we needed receiver and tackle. Olave was obvious and Penning was, well typical small school Saints pick.

We aren’t hearing much this year. They’re keeping it close to the vest. Only Mel Kiper, surprisingly is taking a guess at Dart. Local media guys are not as in the loop it seems. They don’t sound as certain as years past.

Don’t blow up if Dart is the pick at 9.

I’m ok with that, I think Dart has a lot of upside

I been on SR a long time no matter who we draft, 49% board going be like we got our guy, 49% going say he's a bust and 2% still are going be talking about DA.

I think it’s a deep draft…just lacks the typical blue chip power at the top half of the first round. And of course this happens in one of the rare years that we pick in the top 10. 🙄
^^Agree more with this than the OP's assessment. It's a draft that's deep in "moneyball" type talent. No obvious elites in the first round, but a lot of depth pieces available a bit later on.

And I'd bet against a QB at 9. There'd have to be one heck of a con job going on with what the FO is doing publicly versus whatever talks are going on behind closed doors.

You can't tell me what to do and I will be upset lol. I'd really have an issue passing up on a cornerstone piece of which there will definitely be one available to us, but if Dart is the kind of guy Moore can bring in early and teach his offense to for the next 4 years I'll completely get it and hope for the best.

This is a rational argument, and I won’t be disappointed if it happens, right now we’re without a backup coming off a season in which Carr missed a lot games. However, I believe in picking the player the team has the highest graded.

Where is the data that shows that the draft will not be historically good at? They haven't played a down in the league yet.

QB is not really a position of need for this team. I'm not saying that there is a franchise QB of the future on the team right now but drafting a QB, like Dart, who almost certainly isn't that either is not going to improve the team. It's almost certain that there will be a potential starter or high quality backup at almost any other position available at the 9th pick. I don't even see drafting Dart in the 2nd. Maybe the 3rd.
