This Is The Result Of Changing Expectations (2 Viewers)

The booing of Carr was disgraceful !!
I have never seen a Saints player treated like this in the Dome.

Not Danny Wuerffel, or Billie Joe Hobert, or Billy Joe Tolliver,
not Aaron Brooks, or Steve Walsh, or even Jim Everett,
maybe a little like this for Heath Shuler and Bobby Hebert in the play-offs,

Then again, the people who were booing probably never heard of most of these guys,
they were spoiled by Drew Brees and they expect that level of excellence.
A Drew Brees is hard to find !!!!

Derek Carr chose us, he is a 4x Pro Bowler, I know you don't, but trust me, he is one of the best QBs the Saints have had. Plus, these same fans booing Carr mercilessly will be the same fans asking how come free agents won't come here.

1 last question, Why is Cam Jordan beloved ?
117.5 sacks? His whopping 647 tackles ?
He sacked Matt Ryan 23 times?
He was a member of some of the worst defenses in NFL history!
These defenses counteracted Drew Brees greatness.
See, Beast Mode, Vernon Davis, Minnesota Miracle, the No Call, etc etc ...
Yet, Cam Jordan is cheered !

BUT, Derek Carr after 11 games, has got to go!
I am not saying he is the greatest, draft a QB, cool.
that said, as a fan base, we should not treat players the way we are acting toward Carr!

Cam Jordan is a 14 year veteran that has spent his entire career with the Saints.
Add to that, he’s going to be in the Hall.

There is an old saying that you never feed a dog steak, because once he gets that taste he'll never be satisfied eating dog food again.

Payton and Brees were the steak. We are the dog. DA is the dog food.
Epic post so true.:facts3: However, this is not good dog food, it's the stuff mutts and strays pull out of the trash cab.

It’s a double edged sword, you get the prestige of the having a Super Bowl and getting those players and coaches from that run into the Hall, but you’re no longer have the Mom and Pop setup that you to have that would allow everyone to survive a season like this had it happened in the 90s or early 00s.

I’ve heard of everyone of those guys and had I been in the dome yesterday I would’ve boo’ed with them. It’s not only his play. He’s just not a likable guy. He’s like an actor playing a QB. He’s fake. Then his interviews “we know what’s wrong but we’re not gonna tell you”. Enough is enough. I know there will never be another Brees but this guy isn’t the one I want leading a franchise, much like Dennis Allen. They are two peas in a pod. Both clueless.

He has this aura that he thinks he’s a 10 year veteran with the franchise that is infallible.
He thinks he’s at Brees, Jordan, Davis, or Kamara’s status within the organization.

Disgraceful? Respectfully disagree. Once he settled in and started completing passes, the booing stopped. Hopefully he used it as motivation. Booing is important in sports. It shows emotion and passion by fans. Silent apathy is the worst thing in sports. Once you reach apathy, it means you don't care anymore. Booing sends a message. Or is this sarcasm? Wuerffel, BJ1, BJ2, Brooks, Walsh, et al, were all booed.

This may be semantics or nuance, but I felt they weren't booing Carr coming in, they were booing Taysom going out. My evidence of this is they would cheer if Taysom was coming in whether he was coming in to replace Carr or even if he was coming in to play WITH Carr they were still cheering, so the Boo/Cheer was directed at Taysom coming in and out, not whether Carr was coming in or out.

Wuerffel and Billy Joes and Everett didn't get this response for three reasons:

1. Obviously low expectations, like Browns low expectations.
2. They were not relentlessly unlikeable, blame-shifting, moody, and tantruming like Carr, who has done EVERYTHING to alienate fanbase and team.
3. I remember Jim Mora and Ditka. They were both nauseated and disgusted by bad play. Allen's doing the Iraqi propaganda minister routine at podiums about everything being awesome and it massively hurts Carr's standing in fanbase because we have to show how we feel so we can be heard

Boo the Team as a whole as much as you guys want !!
The O line, the D, Carr, DA, the front office, everyone is to blame.
Just don't single out one player like that, That is wrong !
The" he is unlikable stuff" is stupid, Yay, we like Jamais is stupid.
Have you ever met either of them?
It should be ... "I do not like his interviews and the way ESPN, talk radio, and my favorite Saints podcast portray him. I want to boo Carr!
Like I said before, draft a QB this year, trade for one, whatever, but treating Carr the way we did on sunday was unacceptable!

We as a fan base just treated our starting QB the way Pels fans treat CPme and Anthony Davis. One chose us, two forced their way out.

I was in the stands.
The Saints crowd was toxic.
This sorta season could fly in ‘02, but the fanbase will not buy it.
It’s time for the Saints to let go of Dennis Allen.
Draft a QB.
Work toward 2024.
I wasn’t booing Carr, but I was cheering when Taysom came off the sidelines. Didn’t matter if Carr stayed on or not. I think we are better with Taysom out there regardless.

I agree to an extent. If we just sit there silent it means we have given up all hope. Of course that is coming in the near future if things don’t change or turnaround before too long.

I know its been said 1000x now, but SP/Drew have set a new standard for this franchise for the foreseeable future, if not until the day this franchise no longer exists. I started cheering for this team around the mid 90s and this season woulda almost have been a blessing around them simply b/c just to be simply in contention for the division was enough for a lot of us back then, but right here, right now? This is unacceptable, this is, by far, the worst division in football...yet your inept coaching staff cant seem to get these players to play at their capacity...the QB you brought into to put you over the hump, while at times has shown flashes of brilliance here and there, for the most part has been an unmigrated disaster of a signing. Our defense seems to be regressing, especially b/c of injuries...but if you look at the Bills, for example, they have lost as many (if not more) starters on defense as we have, yet they continue to play well regardless. You cant use injuries as an excuse at this point of the season, only the bad teams do.

i didnt go to the game, but i woulda boo'ed as loudly as anyone there...this team is a disgrace lately, especially considering their schedule up to this point. Many will say the most disappointing team in the league will be the aforementioned Bills, but anyone that truly breaks down the games and compared our schedule vs theirs (especially factoring in that our division is much worse competitively than theirs), i think the team thats the most disappointing is ours.

I hate the rebuilds and everything it encompasses, i dont like "wasting" seasons, but at this point, besides blowing everything up and starting from scratch, what can we viably do to give us hope in say, 2~3 years down the line? A firesale has to happen with this team.
I was recently thinking about this. Outside TB and Atl, we lost to GB, Houston, Jacksonville, Minnesota, and Detroit. None of those teams are below .500. Carr got hurt against GB. The schedule isn't as easy as advertised because Houston and GB are better than people expected. We did beat Tennessee, Carolina, New England, Indianapolis, and Chicago. Only Indianapolis has a winning record.

I'm not a typical home team "booer". However, I did boo Carr on Sunday. (And I cheered for Taysom each time he entered the game.) I booed because of his past performance this season. I booed his decision making (missing a wide open by 20 yards or more AT Perry on the tipped INT play) in this game and others. My boos were also for Allen for putting him in the game. I booed Carmichael for abysmal play calling.

Allen even commented about the booing. Good! It's embarrassing to get get booed by the home crowd! It's like getting a reprimand at work for poor performance.

I'm glad Carr played better and got us red zone points! I was not happy he got hurt. I actually was worried that he would get hurt during the booing and was hoping that if he did, that the fans would not cheer his injury. Thank goodness that did not happen! (Saints fans cheered a Wade Wilson injury in the early 90's.) That would be unacceptable behavior by fans. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with booing consistent poor performance by a player, coach, or team. It is just about the only way a fan base has to express displeasure in results. And it shows passion by the fans, which is what you want. Once you lose the fans to silent apathy, that's the worst thing that can happen. Silence leads to empty seats.

It was definitely directed at Carr. The crowd booed him in player introductions. The last time I've seen such a thing was for Aaron Brooks.

Yup, always good to get a totally nonsensical post from Peter Griffen (whom I don't recall ever posting before)....something, something, woodwork, comes to mind.....
