Speculation Thought Exercise: Assemble the coaching staff if Kellen Moore is HC (5 Viewers)

It's really hard for me to get down to the position levels, but for DC I would give a very thorough look at Aaron Curry. He did awesome in Seattle and he has turned Pittsburgh's position of weakness into their defensive strength.
Wild to think he was supposed to be an all world LB in the NFL and it just never materialized.

The saying may be true, those who can’t to, teach.

Stoutland is not going anywhere. A lot depends on if Moore wants to run primarily wide zone or not , if so keeping Benton and Dennison would be the way to go, but I'm guessing Kubiak may try and take them to Sea. If they go then maybe it's time for Pagnetti to get a promotion to OL coach from Ast OL coach under Stoutland
Does Stoutland turn down an oc opportunity?

Looks like Wilks will be the Jets DC. I'd be fine with Ryan Nielsen, as I feel he got a raw deal in the DA debacle with "co-defensive coordinator" shenanigans. And honestly, I respect the guy for leaving that situation and seeking higher opportunity. He's got no "former HC" skins on the wall, but I'd be fine with Rizzi being retained as ST coordinator. Because Rizzi comes from ST, I don't see a locker-room rift/power struggle as an issue; especially if Moore wanted to name Rizzi Assistant HC.
I read a few reports that Nielsen was a real butthead and players did not respond to him as DC .

HC: Kellen Moore
DC: Brandon Staley
OC: Tanner Engstrand (if he doesn't go to the Jets) if so, then Kevin Patullo
ST: Darren Rizzi, if not then Andy Hill or Phil Galiano
I'd bet big $$$ that OC will be Doug Nussmier, he's gone everywhere Moore has been

The more I read about Staley and his use of multiple fronts the more I like him as our DC!

Only trepidation I have with Staley is he's mild mannered like Moore . KM may need an enforcer

I always thought there was something to that saying until I started coaching myself. as someone who’s done both, played and coached, I believe passion is the ultimate driver for success. Some people just have more passion coaching than playing and vice versa.

Just an example, I was very good and successful at baseball. But I’ve started drilling my comp kids how to field a ball a very specific way to cut off half a second getting the ball to first base. Now you may think “youth sports, a half of second isn’t a big deal”. But I assure you, it’s the difference between the kids coming home with a 1st place trophy vs coming home early. And seeing those kids succeed is more gratifying for me then when I pitched a no hitter in the biggest championship game in the state.

I think we keep Rizzi as STC, and give him the Assistant HC moniker as well.
He already was Assistant HC and STC. It'll be tough for him to go back to that after being interim, he could, and I'd hope for it as our ST's unit was the best thing we've had the last few years but there's no reason for him to stay after being spurned as a potential HC twice.

Ironically when you watch this, it was bounty year so the ESPN ticker mentions Saints every few moments as Joe Vit was named interim HC etc. Gruden says that if it never works out for him as a player he'd be a heck of a coach.

Fast forward to 2025

Thanks. I thought Staley was a 4-3 guy. He's much more interesting to me if he's a base odd front guy that mixes in 4 DL at times. To me that is the perfect mix and keeps teams off balance. It also allows you to attack specific weaknesses an offense may have.
And we can get away from these lumbering 6-5 270 lb DE and get more speed and athleticism on the wge with some 6'3 250 lb edge rushers.
