Time to end this circus: Saints have wasted 3 years of our time (merged) (4 Viewers)

Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.

I take a different approach these days to our team. I can't control any of it....none. I just try to enjoy watching the games win or lose because season is ending and won't be able to see them play after next week. Next season will be the same....I'll just focus on watching them play and find enjoyment where I can. It's going to be awhile before they're good again I think so there's no reason getting bent out of shape over things I have no control over. Watching bad saints teams makes you appreciate the good ones even more.

63 million over the cap is 40+ million less than it has been in most years. Usually we are digging out of 100+ million.

Im completly fine with 2025 being a full on crapshow. I dont care if we go 2-15. I see it as a necessary path back to righteousness. No one wants to lose, but it is the fastest way back from the dead. Rip the bandaid, suffer, heal. We are never going to win again until we go through the suffering to reset the franchise.

In the Marines, theyd tell us..... it gets worse before it gets worse.

I watch win or lose. The past few years I've learned to not get too invested in the wins and losses. I want us to win no doubt, but I've thrown remotes and kicked tables in the past and yelled at the tv. But it changes nothing. So, I just sit back and watch and whatever happens, happens. Makes my days better if they lose.

We are all aware of the Saints situation moving forward but to actually see it is nauseating. I would say thank God the 2024 season is ending but 2025 is not looking too promising. As a co-worker of mine once said: "You think today is bad, wait until tomorrow."

"There are a few simple realities in life. Death, taxes, and the Saints being way over the projected salary cap looking toward an offseason. Via Over The Cap, they are currently $63.7 million over the 2025 salary cap and no other team is more than $17.5 million over it."

It could be worse, I thought we were 100M over the 25 cap. Im just hoping ML can make a new coach feel comfortable with his cap strategy

One thing I will say about Allen is that when he came in the first thing he said was (paraphrasing) “we have to fix this cap issue”

Unfortunately for him and for the fans of this woefully thin and untalented team, is that Loomis has built such a precarious house of cards with the cap that there’s almost no way to get it in order without 2-3 years of mess (even worse that what we’ve seen this season).

No coach worth his salt would sit idle while their team is toiling in misery while correcting a monumental money mis-management. They are almost forced to let it keep going because it’s the only way you can keep players worth anything on the roster - even at the expense of your futures.

BUT….There’s ways to make it less difficult.

Collect draft picks and draft well.

Build a team of talented young players on rookie deals and supplement with mid-level free agents.

Most importantly you need a cheap QB.

Here's an outsiders take on our situation:

Pretty good listen. Had to get through it because it was long. They don't care for Bresee and he's not as bad as they make him to be. But overall a good listen. I skipped the draft part once they were trading up.

It’s getting better. We’re 52mil under for 2026. That will change some as we restructure, but we should be in much better shape in the future as long as we don’t waste money on crap we don’t need.
