Time to get some guys back from Injury and make a run (4 Viewers)

If the Saint had managed to go 3-4 instead of 2-5. Id give them a chance. But to reach the playoffs now would require going 8-2, sorry this team aint doing that.

Can someone give me an update on Will Harris and Werner on defense ? Was Harris put on IR ? Those 2 would help our defense. On offense, I’m hoping Taysom and Ruiz can come back this weekend and Carr should be back next weekend and Marquez Scantling should help and I expect McCoy should be back to start December. It’s all about being healthy at the right time and going on a run. I’m trying to remain positive and anything is possible.
This is the way true fans should think, but also everyone in the Saints organization.

Football is a 50/50 mental/physical game. As the organization builds, the negative players should be the first to be replaced, even before the underperforming players.

I think negative fans affect the entire organization. What players, coaches, and even owners want to see booing, throwing stuff, and empty seats? It certainly affects their game!

Save the venom and hissy fits for AFTER the season!

Yea, but you can’t be 3-8 when you start the run…

Yeah, this is huge. Godwin dislocated his ankle at the end of the game and it looked like Evans really messed his hamstring up by pushing it through the injury.

Dalton has already fizzled in Carolina and Young never even got going so they are done.

Atlanta is really the only competition out there.

Getting healthy or healthy-ish is really going to change the landscape of the division.
I don't see the biggest problem for the Saints as being able to win the NFC South. I never saw Atlanta as being invincible. But I do highly doubt that even with the South crown we will be able to advance against ANYONE in the Divisional Playoff round.

But who knows what the real contenders will look like by the end of the season.

Let’s not gate keep what a true fan is and isn’t. There are people with different opinions and views on how we proceed from here. It doesn’t mean they are throwing a hissy fit or being venomous.

One of the reasons I keep returning to Saints Report is the (for the most part) intelligent and thoughtful debate. I admire your optimism but let’s keep the space open for those who don’t share it.

I’m always going to be a glass half full type of guy going into a season. I wanted DA fired the day after he was hired, I had no doubt this would not work out. However, I was willing to believe or try to believe that as a human being he could learn from his previous mistakes and hire the people around him that would help him be successful. His attempt to do that to made me want to believe that just maybe he could be different, but it’s obvious watching our team that that is simply not true. No matter how much people want to believe otherwise, the last 5 quarters have shown they’re not playing hard at all. That’s a reflection on him.

Let’s get past that. It’s going to take 10 wins to win this division. There’s nothing I’ve seen from New Orleans that says we can win eight out of the next 11 games even with the schedule being relatively weak, because we saw a really weak schedule last year and could not win 10 games. It’s much more likely that this team will finish somewhere around 7–10.

It’s weird that TB is still a slight favorite to win the South

Just because of your optimism and the fact that the Falcons will try and Falcon, I may throw $100 down on New Orleans to win the south at +2200 haha
I don’t wana be the negative guy either but you put it best pointing out it would take 8 out of the next 11 to get to 10…

I cannot see how that happens cuz I don’t think this team could go 8 and 3 fully healthy. Not that the team is so awful but even the BEST teams have sinkers, run into buzzsaws etc… and let’s not think that once these guys get healthy they we don’t lose more guys. If Fauga or Penning goes down for a few weeks, that would cause a serious problem. We lost Adebo so now, if we lose Lattimore, we have a serious problem….

I’d like to see Rattler with the full offense before he’s benched for Carr.

Since I don't think anyone answered, Harris is on IR, so he's not back until at least the Falcons game.

Right. We could be fully healthy and remain that way, but with this team and coaching staff there is nothing that says we can go 8-3 in any 11 game stretch. However, crazy things happen, but it's a big time stretch.

it feels like us going on a run would **** off about 70% of SSF
and actually making the playoffs would only mollify about 20% of those
i think many/most fans are dug in on two points - DA gone and top 10 or even 5 draft pick

I don't think there's compelling reason to keep DA at the same time getting rid of DA probably doesn't do all that much
and as has been well documented, drafts are more of a crapshoot than hard science - so all in all i'd take a win streak and/or stumble into the playoffs

As much as I know that every year that we keep the coaching staff and GM sets us back another year, I would always take the playoffs over losing just to hit the reset.

However, we are likely NEVER going to win anything significant with DA as the head coach. There is no further evidence needed. He got his guys, his coaches, his QB, etc etc and the product isn't any better. Yes, he has been dealt a crappy hand this season with injuries, but that is part of the NFL. Happens every year to a lot of teams.

My biggest issue isn't with DA. We all knew what DA was and is as a head coach; we just hoped it could be different because that is what is best for our favorite team. My biggest issue is with Loomis never truly having a plan post-Drew Brees, being so adamant that he is smarter than the rest of the world and knows stuff everyone else doesn't (which seems to be how he thinks regarding hiring DA as HC), etc.

You are right. Firing DA even after the season does very little because this team is going to have at least one more season like this before it can truly turn things around. However, keeping a lame-duck head coach that the players do not respect as the HC just for that reason would be a losers mentality. So, IDK, maybe a change at the GM position is what is needed most, but in this organization, that is not happening until ML retires.
