“Remember, no matter where you go, there you are.”
-Ram Dass

“Wherever I have gone, I was sure to find myself there. You can run all your life, but not go anywhere”—Social Distortion

Very true sentiment regardless of the version

one of my favorites all time.
I just wish some of the deleted scenes would have made the cut. IMO, they helped the ending make more sense.
Same here, I love the Abyss. The director's cut is brilliant, even if it is something like eleventy-three hours long. And, yeah, it makes the ending make more sense, as well as explaining a few lines in the film that have no frame of reference without them (like when Hippy says something about Russian trawlers being around, and there's a comment about the war almost starting.

I was with a group of friends (I want to say it was summer or fall of 1983) at Pat O's.....sitting around a table, one of us is like "hey, isn't that Clint Eastwood"? He had a bodyguard with him but he was basically chatting with anyone who approached him, seemed like a nice fellow and he did chat with us for a bit....I think he was filming the movie above?

I sincerely love this movie!

I sincerely love this movie!

This is an primo movie
Not a ‘great’ movie- story is meh resolution is meh, but as a vehicle for all the performers, it’s excellent
And it’s a perfect Steve Martin role - a Lead Character (lead role but it’s still a ‘character’ not a ‘regular’ guy)
Steve Martin’s quality tanked (imo) when he started to try to play Cary Grant type straight leads (father of the bride, housekeeper, etc)
Robin Williams, Bill Murray, et al were /are able to disappear into roles
Steve Martin always felt like he has to hold back to play ‘normal’

i can't wait till the godess', who is a two time oscar winning, eight time oscar nominated, out of eight, eight mother forking eight nominations, four time golden globe winning, and jesus christ, out of a forking mind-blowing twelve nominations, an outstanding three time winning screen actors guild award, out of, oh my god, wait for it, you will sheet your pants, eighteen, absolutely nuts, eighteen times, twice notimated for an emmy, one time tony nominee, multiple other award wins and nominations, who was born and raised in ivanhoe, victoria, australia, november sixth, ninteen-nighty-eight's oscar winning, seven time oscar nominated, epic movie premiere, regarded, by my expertise, best movie of her career, stealing every scene from herself, herself, her forking self, and a stunningly draw-dropping performance, film's anniversary.

so epic.

so awesome.
