Trevor Penning will work at LT and RT during OTAs (OTA update: Penning moved to RT) (6 Viewers)

Peat was effective once moved to LT last year, there is no denying that.....we currently have a 3rd year player who has yet to be able to remain on the field at any position and a rookie whose ideal position is RT that will be competing for the LT position......and our current starting RT may retire due to persistent injuries.....

And while I still have some hope that Penning will work out, to me, we are razor thin and apparently very risk averse when it comes to the oline.....sorry if that doesn't give me a great feeling of comfort.....Unless you are totally consumed by blind positivity then it should be a major concern.....

Also, the horsey you are on is up there pretty high....

I owe you a touche, we did try to resign Peat according to Loomis. So it wasn't scheme fit. The horse is never too high to step down from

I've heard speculation that he was unhappy how he had been treated by the current staff and wanted a fresh start.....not saying it's definitely absolutely correct/true, but it's telling if it is....IMO

On the other hand, if they did make a legitimate effort to resign him at least they realize his value.....

The horse is really unnecessary IMO.....

He should play LG where he is better suited.

Switching Tackles Left to Right is no easy task.

Penning has sloppy footwork and placing him at G would be able to minimize it and receive help from LT and C.

I do not sit on a horse, that's your perception of me. I chose to acknowledge it because I'm trying this knew thing where I validate peoples feelings whether I believe it or not.

Be well

Can both of you take this to the chat or private message, please?
Neither of you are shining right now

Then maybe stop with the BS condescension, it's really getting old.....

That wasn't me being condescending but if you feel that way it's probably best to just block each other and that way we don't have to deal with each other. Have a great one chief

Every time I hear someone who has actually played OL asked that, they say it's easier to move between LT and RT than it is to guard.

I played OL. G and T. Sure its different but you are not alone on an island for majority of snaps, which would help Penning and his poor technique. We had to use a TE to chip the edge a lot for him. G is a much easier position and would receive the back up help he needs. Going from a 2 point to a 3 point vs switching your plant foot and switching your inside hand, reversing everything you have been doing with your feet and hands for years. Ill take the 3 point stance and play LG which we also have a hole at.

I played OL as well. I'm talking professionals.

They did have him take a major pay cut last year before camp or early in camp and I think told him they would cut him if he didn't. So, I could see how he might not feel loved or confident they wouldn't push him out soon.

That happened way before camp. Back when we were getting under the cap. He's one of 4 or 5 players we had take straight up paycuts. Peat, Jameis, Lutz, Michael Thomas....
