N/S Trey Hendrickson has back to back 17.5 sack seasons (4 Viewers)

We need a 'rolls eyes' emoticon, and we need it bad.

Or a meme for the bitter ex-girlfriend vibe these threads reek of.
What number of draft picks have we used to attempt and fail at replacing Hendrickson? Three 1st and a 2nd? All because we prioritized a safety that had the single greatest choke play in NFL history.

It’s water under the bridge but it’s really not…because we can now be using our fourth 1st rounder this year in yet another DE, and the people responsible for the personnel decision are still in control. It will always be relevant as long as Loomis is in control.

Too bad that and a generational QB has netted them the same as us. Two straight years watching the playoffs.
All they need is for the Chiefs (likely resting starters) to beat the Broncos (who need a win for playoffs) and the Dolphisn to beat the Jets and ...

Ok they're watching the playoffs this year

There's no guarantee he wouldn't have bolted after the tag year like Williams did ... so we'd be in the same situation

Yeah, couldn't keep both.

It's good to see him perform at a high level. Hopefully he's on the Bengals when Burrow leads them to a SB Victory.
Anything is possible with the kicking the can down the road philosophy. They decided other players were worth kicking the can down the road more because they already had Davenport who was ahead of Hendrickson on the depth chart. And Hendrickson really only broke out in his last year and I admit I wasn’t sure that he’d keep it up once he got a new contract. But he proved us all wrong and became one of the leagues best pass rushers.

The only reason to look back is to learn from it, then look forward and do better. The constant harping is just bitter ex-GF stuff.

He was an oft injured player who broke out in his final year after decisions had been made. The breakout priced him out of our range. The decision was to keep Marcus Williams.
Yeah, and where is Marcus Williams? Baun, Hendrickson, Marcus Williams, CJGJ, Lattimore is just more reasons to know that our front office and player evaluation is severely lacking. I see other teams move on from players ( San Francisco, Baltimore ) get multiple 3rd round comp picks and continue to fill the team with youth. When we lose a player, we are lost at that position for years. No foresight no plan and less wins every year.

You forgot Kaden Ellis bro. We had a probowl defense

I mean you know how much I hate to say I told you so…. buuuut…

How were we going to keep Trey and over extend an aging Cam…. Or keep Davenport…. Or Draft Turner…. Or many other dumb options we’ve gone through to replace his production?

It was dumb then, and looks even worse now.

We need a top down change within the organization…. Starting with Loomis.
