***TROPICAL ALERT*** TROPICAL STORM ETA (Late season tropical outlook discussion) (2 Viewers)

Still no power in Algiers between Wall and MacArthur. Neighbors on the other side of Wall never lost it, nor did my sister two streets over. Cell signal in this area is terrible as well. At least, the cool front has helped.

It would be Eta I think then Epsilon if I remember my greek alphabet. Not that I want to find out. I've noticed a lot of people thinking that Zeta is the last letter of the Greek alphabet.
Eta is correct. I know this because the weather channel just said there is another depression forming near the Caribbean's. Likely to move west though instead of north.
But it is 2020 so you never know.

That was intense. Was able to hotspot my backup cell phone. About half the houses in the area have roof damage, maybe 2-3% of power poles are down. Just enough to keep the grid down. Entergy should be able to get things back together here in a few days, I think. Generac is going strong, like a backup QB coming off the bench. (That would make a nice commercial......)

Hope everybody is safe, the power situation will be worse because all of the crews are in Western LA. At least it is nice an cool outside. I have a neighbor using my generator to run his fridge and a few lights.

Another potential storm. Right now, the NHC forecasts puts it into Central America.
A tropical wave currently approaching the eastern Caribbean Sea will continue to move westward and arrive into the central and western Caribbean Sea over the weekend. Current upper level conditions are not favorable for development, but as the wave axis reaches the western Caribbean late this weekend, upper level winds will become increasing favorable for the development of a tropical depression or storm. High pressure building over the southeast US will likely result in some sort of slow W to WNW motion, but the final outcome of track solutions will likely hinge on the intensity of the system next week and where a defined low level center forms.

Hearing outages will last into the weekend in some places. Entergy needs to tighten up.

Have Ms. power. On their web site the outage link will not even load up.
Trying to do this because when you call it directs you to the web site

I got a text from Entergy saying 480,000 customers out in LA as of last night and 407,000 still out as of 9 am. I was in the lucky 20% that got it back. I'm in old metairie between airline and the railroad tracks.

My internet has been really spotty, so what were the confirmed wind speeds in the city?

anyone who plants/leaves a bradford pear tree close to a house/driveway shouldve known that could happen. better on car than house or a person though.

I’m not positive, but I’m pretty sure she moved into the house long, long after that tree was planted.. also not sure if she rents or owns it, if renting i doubt she had much choice but to leave it there.

I was actually just wondering if there was another one getting started yet. You answered the question. Ugh.
