Tua Tagovailoa concussion discussion (update: Tua to IR 9/17/2024)(Merged) (3 Viewers)

McDaniel just said he’s in the concussion protocol and he was evacuated for a concussion. Not a neck.

4 DAYS!!!!

4 DAYS!!!!

It's been 4 days since dude was out on his feet from a far harder hit to the head than he took today!!!

The video from last week appears to show Tua with obvious neurological effects. Confused, unsteady walking, shaking his head, hands up to his head - the signs the docs on the sideline say they’re looking for. They later said it wasn’t a concussion and he wasn’t in the protocol. But how?

Tonight he never got up so we didn’t see him walk - but he definitely hit his head and the raised forearms with curled fingers, clear neurological sign. Then coach says he did indeed suffer a concussion and is in the protocol.

So we know for sure tonight - the question is really only about last week. Is it possible he wasn’t concussed? Seems so wildly unlikely.

It’s been pretty well known the concussion protocol really didn’t apply to QBs. There was a game a year or two ago where Mahomes was obviously concussed, but they trotted him right back out there after being “evaluated”.

NFL couldn’t care less as long as their franchise faces are out there dancing for the NFL’s money.

It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility (IMHO) that the Dolphins would attempt to do something dirty like putting Tua in a game 4 days after a concussion. Remember, they recently lost draft picks for tampering with Tom Brady and Sean Payton.

Not sure if this is on the Dolphins, the doctors, the NFL or all of the above
Which ever it is heads need to roll, l am pretty sure any independent doctor would say there is no way he should have been playing so soon after a major concussion
This is far bigger than football, actually a case of knowingly putting a player at major risk
This could and should turn in to one of the biggest investigations in NFL history, If RG did not know this risk then he should have
Will be fascinating to see on who the pin the blame

The crazy part is they let him back in the game (last week). Their position is that he didn’t have a concussion at all. It seems pretty obvious that he did - I think that’s what deserves an explanation more than anything else. How did they rule out concussion during the game (and thereafter) last week?
