Under the Dome - Stephen King (3 Viewers)

I liked:

The Shawshank Redemption
The Green Mile
Tommyknockers
It
Dolores Claiborne
Needful Things
The Drawing of The Three
The Mist - Short Story
Pet Semetary
Christine
Fire Starter
etc...

There are more but admittedly he had some stinkers.
Skeleton Crew, his first book of short stories, was excellent as were several of his books written under the psuedonym of Richard Bachmann e.g. Rage, The Long Walk, Thinner, The Running man, and Road Work.

The original version of The Stand was great, it did not need to be re-released with 200 more pages. Some of his other books, such as It could also have benefitted from being edited.

Carrie, The Shining, Dolores Claiborne, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile are all excellent. Under The Dome was ok, but the climax was poor. The Langoliers scared the living crap out out of me and I could only read it during daylight hours.

I wanted so bad to like 11/22/63 and I did in the beginning but then it slowed down and King introduced characters that I did not give two flips about. That was what King did best in his good years was deliver characters so well that you felt like you know them. I still remember characters very vividly from It, Pet Cemetery, The Stand and the like though I have not read those books in Decades and I could not tell you much about any characters that I read of his far more recently.

If you haven't, you should read bag of bones. I thought mike noonan was a great character.

I also thought Duma Key was pretty good. Still, it's tough to beat his classics. And as much as I love the Dark Tower.....the Stand is my favorite book, followed by wizard and glass. The Marvel comics adaptations of that story are great, as well.

you know I was just trying to remember that book - I did read it some time ago and for the stuff in the second half of King's career that was better than normal. Familiar story line but a fun read.
