But to me, Im going to say this out loud, we have a keeper problem. Turners season at Forest has been a disaster. Before that he wasnt playing at Arsenal. The problem is, he IS the best option right now and he cant even start on a near relegation PL side. I wish Berhalter wouldve brought Celentano or Chris Brady into this camp to start thinking about the future.

I also thought Slonina would be called up to get a look.

GKs are reliant upon their immediate defenders and communication- Nott Forest doesnt have the best back 4 and its possible that communication is an issue there. He is now splitting time with the other GK so yeah doesnt look all that good. Conversely, in 29 matches, NF have only scored 35 goals....not putting a lot of pressure on opponents ( which takes some of the pressure off defenders/GK )

However, a return state-side and some good outings with USMNT might re-ignite his confidence, especially when paired with a Ream/Richards CB duo.

One of the best, if not the best, season ever for the USMNT with their euro club teams. Dont forget Dest and Jedi who are having really good seasons. Adams finally starting to get minutes again.

While we are stronger in some areas, some important guys have struggled this season. Balogun and Reyna more than any others but are crucial on the USMNT side. Its going to be interesting to see if GGG starts Reyna at the 10, regardless of his club situation...he is our best option there.

Up top, he could start Balogun, Pepi or Sargent and it wouldnt be a surprise. I still think Balogun is the #1 and just needs more time playing (and GGG using him properly). But Sargent is right there. I just like Pepi as the supersub more than I like Pepi as the starter. He just has a knack for finding the net when he comes on around 65-70.

I think Gio’s time really depends on how GGG is planning on playing. If we’re going to attack, he has a good chance at time. If not, and it’s a balanced approach or defensive approach, he won’t see the field. Seems like he trusts Adams, McKennie, and Musah and there just isn’t room for a 10 usually.

Im not disagreeing with you, but I dont know if I want to see a Adams/Mckennie/Musah midfield. Maybe against a conmebol side in Copa where we have to defend. But not against concacaf. We need a creative attacking MF in there somewhere. If its not Gio, then Tillman.

Its not too much of a problem right now as I doubt Adams gets more than 15-20 min as a sub. We will see what he does for Copa.

I’d agree. I like the MMA midfield for certain situations, but I really liked when Gio played 10 during the BJ Callahan era and they just pushed forward.

90 minutes of defending is a hell of a lot easier when you are defending Berhalter Ball. Just defend long crosses and you dont expend much energy. A ultra weak Jamaica side now content on defending till the end.

Kudos to Berhalter for continuing to kick Gio while he is down and not having a creative force at the 10. This would be a massive, massive loss for a team with their eyes on Copa and a home WC.

But, its a lot of defending. Might take us till 70-80 min to get the equalizer, but then we should be able to sub in Pepi and Gio and get the winner.

Or so, thats my plan.

If this holds, do you even let him get to Copa? I mean, this is a once in a generation opportunity for 'the golden generation'. The time for donking around with Berhalter is over if this is what we get the rest of this match.

Reyna has to show he can be an asset to any team he is on. He's not showing it. Coaches want to win too.

Why is Matt Turner starting? His form has been trash and he has lost his job twice to 2 different keepers. Form is fallacy, Gio has produced every time he has been with the NT since the WC.
