USMNT - ‘23 and beyond (2 Viewers)

I forgot the NZ friendly was tonight
i'm probably 30 minutes behind - I REALLY hopes this picks up, they're not better than they were against Canada (in the first 10 minutes)

Then I won't spoil it for you if you plan on watching thru 90

Why was Pepi’s goal disallowed? I never saw the explanation

offsides on the build up. if you see the initial ball that gets angled wide to Fossey- Fossey ended up being just a shade offside. ( nearer to midfield in the original ball to Balo who fed out to Fossey movement)

right call. he was just ahead of ball and last defender

unfortunately none of that negates the disinterested play. I will say they looked a bit more aggressive in possession, but yet again, just.couldnt.finish.

Poch will have to figure out where our scoring is going to come from in order to figure out what formation he wants to use. As of now, i havent a clue and i dont know why these guys are just incapable of producing goals. Maybe trying too hard, idk.

but its a problem.

I just have to assume last night’s lineup was a directive from Poch to throw 💩 at the wall and see what he had (why else put Pepi out wide??)

Not sure he’s ever coached remotely so this process should be interesting

my interest will be how he sets up roster vs system.

Will he adjust system to pool of players strenghts ( try hide weakness ) or will he look for players to fit his system?

And how long will it take for them to grasp and execute said system. The fact we have no qualifying games going into 2026 is going to present a problem. Time on task will be very limited to international club windows. I wouldnt be surprised to learn that summer 2025 we have an extended camp for that reason.

I HAVE to imagine- espy since this was greggg’s big failure, that Poch was hired for game/player management and not to drop a system in their heads
The other way makes zero sense

i cant imagine he was brought in to manage GGG philosophy/style of play.

Unless he getting $$$$$$$ and said " sure ill do that for 2 years"

Just watched the Solo v USSF doc

USSF is simply an evil, corrupted and self protective organization with little to no accountability or oversight.

Just wow.

Total Soccer Show was talking about an Atlantic article about
One of the interesting takes is how many high ranking managers took US’s calls and even Klopp implied ‘not now but maybe in 2 years’

Cocker’s contact at Chelsea was very helpful in facilitating the Poch approach/discussion

Also Emma Hayes was gung-ho during the process even calling in during the Olympics to push for Poch
